99 Pts Luca Maroni - Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani

(Translated)"Fruity and spice (notes) jump on the nose with a rare essence of aromas, a vivid and stupendous Purple but not black color. A maximum expression of fruit, pure solid and rich, but not overwhelming. Ruche' a grape of absolute concentration and vigor for this vintage, a wine made with an exceptional rare, sumptuous sensorial and compositional quality. One of the rarest grape (varietals) available, one of the Italian wines with the greatest aromatic profile, made in style and (in the) most consistent version ever in this 2012 release, another exquisite showing of Montalbera tradition and innovation." (2012)

Description:

Final day to buy this 99 Point red at $19.99 on sale!
--- Tomorrow, this price will raise to $28.99 on sale.

--- If there was ever a time to try something new in the $19.99 price point or under, today is the day. Our initial notes after tasting the first vintage of this wine? "It was shocking. In all reality, we didn't even need to taste it to know that this was a mind-blowing bottle of wine. One sniff and we fell in love. The aromatics on this wine are endless. You could smell the glass of wine from 5 feet away."

--- Rated 99 Points by Luca Maroni.

--- We flipped after tasting this for the first time! A simply spectacular red that had our tasting team amazed.

Yes, you are reading that correctly. 99 Points. $19.99 per bottle on sale.

Without question, this has been one of the most talked about wines over the last year. What started as a casual tasting with one of our importers, turned out to be one of the most exciting wines we have ever offered, both from the press standpoint and the fact that, for many, it was the first opportunity to taste a grape varietal you don't see that often.

For those of you who don't already know this, several months ago, we turned many of you on to a red that the Italian media lost their minds over. The wine was the 2011 Montalbera Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato Laccento. Our notes from the last vintage were "It was shocking. In all reality, we didn't even need to taste it to know that this was a mind-blowing bottle of wine. One sniff and we fell in love. The aromatics on this wine are endless. You could smell the glass of wine from 5 feet away." The varietal here is Ruche, which shares some similar characteristics to Nebbiolo.

The new vintage of this wine, the 2012, hit 99 Points...again!

Like the blockbuster 2011 vintage, we have had huge demand on the 2012 release, especially since so many of you came back looking for more of the last vintage. This is one last shot to buy this wine at the $19.99 price!

Luca Maroni released the new edition of the Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani for 2014 and once again, raved over this simply incredible QPR!!

Back to back 99 Point scores...just $19.99 per bottle. If you didn't get a chance to try the 2011 vintage, pick up some of the 2012 vintage now on sale!

For those of you who have never tried a Ruche, you are in for a treat! With mysterious and obscure origins, the Ruche variety is planted in part on only about 40 hectares of land in Piedmont, making it one of the smallest production varietal wines in Italy. It is an entirely distinctive and different wine with a wildly redolent nose and explosive palate that must be tasted to be believed.

Tomorrow the sale price on this wine (if there is any left) will increase to $28.99. Today is the last day to take advantage of this price!

Wine:
"A wine of sublime originality. The sheer quantity of flowers and fruit in the bouquet derives from one of the finest and most intense grapes that, so majestically luxuriant and luscious, can be harvested and processed today. Yet harvested with such respect and absolute lucidity that their lively, chlorophyllic breath is retained immaculately in this wine." - Winery

Vineyard/Winery:
"A succession of rows perfectly trained and grown using the low Gujot system, a firmly established tradition of this area. Only the color of the leaves in autumn, or the experienced eye of the grower, can distinguish between the various vine varieties."

"The vineyards are all consolidated on one piece of land entirely covering four hills; the only land without vines is on the valley floor which, because of a business decision, is used to grow hazelnuts."

"This farm has 130 hectares of vineyard, divided into different types of vines. The first in order of importance occupies over 60 hectares: Castagnole Ruche Monferrato, the feather in the cap of Montalbera, the biggest producer of this promising native wine. The valleys surrounding the farm comprise 14 hectares of Barbera d'Asti, a well-known wine typical of Monferrato; 18 hectares of Grignolino d'Asti and several hectares of Chardonnay, Savignon and Viognier for an abundant vinification of white wines."

"Only in the last two years has the farm, continuously evolving and expanding, planted many acres of vineyards which, in their third year of cultivation, will start to be vinified. They will be added to the company's existing products, making ours an increasingly interesting and unique agricultural enterprise." "Montalbera Castagnole Monferrato is also the location of the winery where all our wines are vinified, bottled and stored as finished products. After three years of renovation work, the Tasting Room has finally been completed. From here, gazing through the large windows, you can enjoy a superb panorama of the lakeside property and the wonderful valley entirely planted with Ruche and Barbera d'Asti."

"The cellar below, considered to have an optimal temperature, is completely reserved for the "barricaia" (barique cellar) where selected wines are aged. In these rooms of exposed brick, niches have been created to carefully store the "vintages not for sale", reserved exclusively for private tasting." - Winery
