A distinctive combination of 35% Chardonnay, 20% Roussanne, 20% Viognier and small quantities of Riesling, Semillon, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc, the 2012 Blindfold is a sleeper of the vintage. Reminiscent of the Sine Qua Non whites from further south, it bursts with honeyed, caramelized white fruits, rose petals and pineapple. Medium to full-bodied with good acidity, brilliant purity and a delineation that is uncommon for a wine with so much flavor, this beauty should drink well for 2-3 years. I hope we see more blends such as this. These offerings, which are the products of Quintessa's Huneus family, are interesting wines, especially the proprietary blends. Due to the incredible success of the Prisoner, we knew there would be huge demand for the Blindfold as well. What we didn't anticipate ... was a huge score from Robert Parker as well.
"These offerings, which are the products of Quintessaâs Huneus family, are interesting wines, especially the proprietary blends. I hope consumers embrace these blends as they give winemakers lots of different options. Even more important, they are a lot of fun to taste." - Robert Parker

The Marsanne that we source from this vineyard adds aromatics and a crisp minerality to the wine. We also source Viognier from the Rodgers vineyard located in Yountville which adds intensity and a floral component to the wine." - Winery

"The Sangiacomo family has been farming in the Carneros and Sonoma Valley areas since the 1950s. We work with three different blocks of this vineyard to add to the complexity and structure of Blindfold. Another source for the wine is one of the oldest estates in Sonoma Valley â the Kunde family which has over 100 years of history in the area. We source Viognier from a West facing slope of the vineyard which adds floral notes to the wine." - Winery
Camp 4, Live Oak
"Camp 4 in Santa Ynez overlooks horse farms and vineyards in a spectacular transverse valley. The Roussanne grapes we source from here mature slowly due to the region's cool early season which ads weight and creaminess to the entry of the wine. We also source fruit from Live Oak located on the esteemed west side of Paso Robles, known for producing small concentrated berries and rich flavor notes to the wines. " - Winery
