92 Pts Jeb Dunnuck - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2013 Cotes du Roussillon Miraflors Rose (which is a step up over the 2012) is comprised of mostly Mourvedre, with a smaller part Grenache. Coming from terraced plots along the coast and aged all in concrete, it is decidedly Provencal in style with juicy, pure strawberry, citrus, orange peel and ample minerality as well as a medium-bodied, racy profile on the palate. Hard to resist, with fabulous purity, enjoy it over the coming year."
"Run by the talented (and fast driving) Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage, from their cellar located just outside of Perpignan (which is being completely renovated), this estate includes vineyards spread throughout the Roussillon, allowing them to make the most of the diverse terroirs and micro-climates. I struggle to think of another portfolio that encompasses anywhere close to this level of value, and the average quality to price (QPR) for these wines is just hard to believe. I've included the Chateau Saint Roch and Saint Roch (mostly Maury-based) releases here as well, as they're made at the estate and were part of the tasting I had with Jean-Marc. www.domaine-lafage.com" (04/14)
"Very fresh, pale color with salmon hues. The nose references sea flavors with spices and minerality. The wine palate is crisp; the spiciness and fruit have a nice, round finish. Enjoy with mixed salads, cold and grilled meats." -Importer
"One of the oldest viticultural areas of France, vines in the Roussillon were cultivated by the Romans, and perhaps even before that. With some of the most dramatic topography in France, many of the zones are composed of extremely steep hillsides - resembling the Priorat in Spain in many ways. One of the most sought after winemakers of Europe at the moment, Jean-Marc Lafage, lends his expertise with Southern European varietals to several top estates in both France and Spain (he makes Evodia and Novellum with Eric Solomon among other custom cuvee projects). However, his best work is perhaps at home at his estate in the hills of the Roussillon with his wife, Eliane, also a highly accomplished winemaker." -Importer
