"The 2013 Silencis is pure Xarello from a cold vintage harvested on September 25, which is the date when Xarello used to be harvested 30 years ago. They introduced some big changes in 2013, like not filtering or clarifying the wine, so it-s very cloudy, and retains some of the gas, which gives a fresh sensation. Other than that, it feels very pure, lively and may I say? authentic. It-s like night and day between 2012 and 2013. Apple notes, smoky, flinty, bread dough and a salty, mineral finish with superb acidity and freshness. Pure acid, fruit juice with an electric feeling in the palate. A superb Mediterranean Xarello that should develop well. Very good price for what it is. Drink now-2018. "

"Barrel-fermented Xarel-lo from the force behind the proposed new PenedÃ¨s DO Conca del Riu Anoia, a more local and demanding alternative to the giant DO Cava. This sample is not quite clear - presumably it's a barrel sample for this wine is generally given six months in barrel. Very fresh nose but deep flavours of pear juice and, surely, some lees stirring. Impressive mass in the mouth. Very tart at the moment. Very much work in progress, but promising. Drink 2015 to 2017. "Wine production at Raventos i Blanc started in 1497 when the estate was founded in Sant Sadurni dâAnoia. This date has been authenticated by documents at the estate and recognized by the Spanish Government. The first Cava in Spain was produced here in 1872 by Josep Raventos Fatjo. The estate as it is now, was founded in 1984 by Josep-Maria Raventos, a member of the CodornÃu family. He wished to create a small, quality-oriented winery that would stand apart from the large co-ops in the area. Today Raventos owns about 300 acres of vineyards planted mostly to local varieties such as Macabeo (Viura), Xarel-lo and Parellada."
