Description:

This 3-pack includes 1 bottle of 2009 - Chateau Cantemerle, 1 bottle of 2009 - Chateau Sociando Mallet, and 1 bottle of 2009 - Chateau Bernadotte.

2009 - Chateau Cantemerle
"Gorgeous ripe fruit character, with loads of blueberries, blackberries and flowers. Full body, with velvety tannins and a fruity, fresh, grapefruit aftertaste. Really beautiful. Best ever from here. Best after 2018." (02/12) - 95 Pts James Suckling

"Very structured wine, with black currant fruit and dense acidity. The tannins are dark, firm, solid. This is a fine wine from Cantemerle, reveling in the richness of the vintage. - RV" (02/12) - 92 Pts Wine Enthusiast

"Readers looking for the more ethereal, elegant side of Bordeaux need search no further than Cantemerle, one of the estates in the very southern end of the Medoc. Dense ruby/purple (nearly opaque), this wine offers up notes of lead pencil shavings, spring flowers, raspberries and black cherries. The wine is ethereal, medium-bodied, and by no means a blockbuster, but long and intellectual. However, the tannins are present, and the wine is certainly capable of putting on weight with time in the bottle. Give it 3-4 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 25+ years." (02/12) - 91+ Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"This broad, fleshy style delivers toasty spice and tobacco notes up front, followed by dark cocoa, crushed plum and mulled blackberry fruit flavors. This really stretches out nicely in the glass, with alluring dark fruit and a velvety feel. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2017. 33,330 cases made. -JM" (03/12) - 91 Pts Wine Spectator

"Bright, deep ruby-red. High-pitched, inky aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. Juicy, lively and penetrating, with a restrained sweetness and a distinctly cool quality to its black fruit and graphite flavors. Nicely dense but not a fleshy style of 2009. Finishes with firm tannins and sneaky length, and a light touch. I'd lay this down for five or six years; it should last for a good two decades." (07/12) - 90+ Pts Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar

Wine:
"Those who prefer a young wine can begin to appreciate this very fine bottle in 2012 if it is transferred to a carafe three hours before serving; their reward will be the development of spicy, black fruit aromas typical of this growth. The wine’s complexity is satisfyingly paradoxical: concentration and elegance, liveliness and softness. Just the color alone shows the deep, stylish garnet color typical of a great wine, and this impression is confirmed by its aromatic complexity. Beautifully long with a fresh finish."

"For those who prefer more mature wines, Cantemerle 2009 can continue cellar aging for five, ten, or even fifteen years more; this will bring out its pedigree, with boldly expressive yet finely delicate aromas perfectly representative of its vintage and its terroir. But will these wine lovers be able to resist opening the bottle before then?" - Winery

2009 - Chateau Sociando Mallet :
"Shows precision here, with floral, blueberry and mineral aromas that follow through to a full body and firm and racy tannins. Very polished texture to this wine. Goes on for minutes on the plate. Back in form! Try after 2017." (02/12) - 94 Pts James Suckling

"Deep ruby. Blackcurrant, licorice, underbrush and smoky oak on the inviting nose, with hints of tobacco and minerals. Dense and chewy in the mouth, with brooding, ripe flavors of blackberry, dark plum and smoky, chocolatey oak given lift by firm acidity. Finishes with subtle length but its assertive tannins will require at least several years of patience once this wine is released. I'm a big fan of this overachieving property, which for my money usually produces one of the top five or six values in all of Bordeaux That said, I wonder if this chunky wine has the concentration to surpass top recent releases. (By the way, the '99 Sociando is delicious right now.)" (06/10) - 89-91 Pts Ian Dagata - International Wine Cellar

"This uncompromising property has turned out a backward, forbiddingly tannic wine that, even in this very opulent and flamboyant vintage, will need a minimum of 10-15 years of cellaring yet keep for 40 or more years. Opaque black/purple, with notes of crushed rock, white flowers, graphite, blueberry and cassis, the wine is tight and needs to be coaxed from the glass. It is medium to full-bodied, with an excruciatingly tough-textured finish. Everything is here, and the wine is set for a long life, but it is not the least bit charming and certainly won't be for at least another decade." (02/12) - 90 Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Producer:
"Chateau Sociando-Mallet is located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, around ten kilometeres North of Pauillac, in the appellation of Haut-Medoc. A document dating back to March 1633 refers to noble land in this commune, belonging to a family of Basque origin called Sossiondo, of which a member was bishop of Bayonne. Another document of 1750 mentions the vines of Demoiselle Anne of Sossiondo. Over the years "Sociondo" or "Sossiondo" became "Sociando" due to a simple spelling mistake." - Winery This wine was also rated 88 Points by the Wine Spectator.

2009 - Chateau Bernadotte:
"Ruby purple. Spicy, floral-accented aromas of ripe, fresh raspberry and minerals. More fresh raspberry and red cherry on the palate, with silky texture contributing to an overall impression of sweetness. Finishes with a hint of warmth and a lingering note of violet. A classically styled Bordeaux, and by far the best young Bernadotte to date." (06/10) - 88-91 Pts Ian Dagata - International Wine Cellar

Wine:
"Chateau Bernadotte is a wine endowed with a solid tannic structure, well rounded. It is a rich, charming wine, delicate and full-bodied with delicious aromas of fresh red fruit."

"The area, particularly vast, permits a rigorous selection which guarantees a constant quality. Following the example of the Classified growths, a second selection has been created at the time of blending, Chateau Fournas Bernadotte. Less robust than the first wine, its aromas of ripe fruit continue in the mouth with a texture that is both fresh and elegant."

"The annual production is about 11000 cases for Chateau Bernadotte and 6700 cases for the second wine. The wines of Bernadotte are distributed by the same network of wine merchants and importers as Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande." - Winery

This wine was also rated 89 Points by the Wine Advocate and 87 Points by the Wine Spectator.
