"The great success of Bere beginning with the 2007 vintage brought a dilemma to Alessandro Landini at Viticcio. Italian law allows an estate to purchase a limited amount of grapes above the legal amount produced at the property. As he approached the 2009 vintage Alessandro realized that he would not be able to supply enough Bere while continuing to use Viticcio on the label. That year he leased a 4 hectare vineyard, Pian della Vite, not far from the Viticcio estate in Greve for the purpose of increasing the production of Bere. Alessandro decided to establish a separate company under the Pian della Vite name."
"With the establishment of Pian della Vite came the vision to produce a Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva in a soft engaging style that could arrive in the market at a more popular price. The name Soluve was chosen for these wines. By using younger vines, older barriques and increasing the percentage of Merlot Alessandro was able to achieve his desired style. The wines express the warm cherry flavors of Sangiovese and soft fruit tannin without the stronger vanilla character of young oak. All Pian della Vite wines achieve excellent concentration by limiting yields through early debudding, canopy management and green harvest." - Importer

Although it has had years of great press and its wines are priced significantly below neighboring estates in Chianti Classico, their wines were still only available in five U.S. states. What they truly needed was somebody to get their message out on a national scale, and for this they sought out the team at Sherbrooke Cellars. The Landini family have some of the finest vineyard holdings in the famed Greve in Chianti area, and with the recent acquisition of an estate in Bolgheri, I Greppi, plus significant upgrades in the cellars and vineyards, they will prove to be an important winery to watch for years to come."
