91 Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre from 65-year-old vines) is an exceptionally strong effort. Aged in tank (80%) and small oak barrels (20%), it is a dense, full-bodied wine revealing an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, blackberries, and cassis. With a sumptuous, layered, full-bodied texture, sweet, velvety tannins, and zesty freshness as well as acidity, it should drink well for 12-14 years." (10/09)

91 Pts Wine Spectator

"Rich but pure, with lovely crushed plum and violet aromas followed by layers of mesquite, roasted vanilla, melted licorice and pastis. Long and very silky through the finish. Still quite primal now, but should evolve nicely. Best from 2010 through 2022. 4,000 cases made. -JM" (08/09)

90 Pts Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media

"Vivid purple. Highly aromatic nose shows dark berry preserves, potpourri and white pepper. Lush, creamy blackberry and blueberry flavors are lifted by peppery spices and framed by velvety tannins. The sappy finish clings with very good authority and repeats the blueberry note, with a late note of candied licorice building with air." (02/10)

Description:

"Grenache Noir 70%, Syrah 20%, Mourvedre 10%. Aged in barrique and cement for 16 to 18 months. Very rich and headily floral on the nose with rather tight dry tannins. Perhaps just slightly too ambitious? Certainly not relaxed! Very dry finish. Drink from 2010 to 2015. (JR)" - 16 out of 20 Points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages.

Wine:
"The color is ruby-opaque. The nose exudes both aromas of ripe red fruit (kirsch, blackberry) and spice box. The wine is rich, full and ample. The length is important with printing salinity provided by silky tannins. A style of Chateauneuf du Pape intense and subtle characters that express all the characteristics of its terroir." - Winery

Terroir:
"Part comes from clay and stony soils covered with pebbles and another part on deep sandy loam brown soil. The location is only the northern part of the appellation. The vineyards are farmed organically. This assembly allows the terroir to express Veneur Grand red year after year its power and aromatic complexity." - Winery
