"Solengo is a modern, well-balanced and full-bodied wine. It is deep, dark purple in colour with a bouquet of ripe fruit, such as black currants and blackberries, with a hint of toasted oak. It is smooth on the palate, with a great concentration of excellent fruit, nicely balanced with delicate, soft tannins. The structure and complexity in the mouth are outstanding, tempered by excellent tannic extracts. This high-profile blend has evident Mediterranean characteristics and a sunny nature. Its grace and delicacy mean that it can be drunk while young, yet it also has a remarkable ageing capacity." -Importer

"In addition to Brunello, Solengo is the expression of Argiano's viticulture. Due to Argiano's particular microclimate, it is possible to plant grape varietals that are not traditionally found in Montalcino, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. An adequate ageing time in the bottle will result in a noteworthy evolution of the wine, revealing the great potential of this Tuscan wine. Solengo is the brainchild of renowned oenologist Giacomo Tachis, the 'father of Super Tuscans'. Tachis is the name behind Solaia, Sassiccaia and Tignanello." -Importer
VINIFICATION:
"Grapes are fermented separately and macerated on the skins 16 days for Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, 14 days for Merlot and 12 days for Syrah. Malolactic fermentation is fast and easily achieved. Wine is then blended, creating a final wine that encompasses the unique characteristics of each varietal."
"After malolactic fermentation, the wine starts its aging process by the end of January in new, French oak barriques and remains there for 15-17 months. Fining and filtration are not necessary. After a simple settling, the final bottling takes place to allow further completion of the bouquet." -Importer
