We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

More Ratings:

91 Pts Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media

"Opaque ruby. Redcurrant, dried cherry, minerals and licorice on the nose. Rich and supple on entry, then more taut and linear in the mid-palate, with nicely delineated flavors of bitter cherry, cassis, dark chocolate and anise. The finish is focused, smoky and persistent, with fine-grained tannins adding grip." (10/13)

91 Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"In spite of the fact that the 2011 Black Slate is produced from 60% Grenache (60-year-old vines) and 40% Carignan (80-year-old vines) aged 12 months in tank, foudre and used barrels, it tastes like a sexy, open-knit, lush, silky Pomerol. Loads of black currant and black cherry fruit, licorice, spice box and Christmas fruitcake emerge from this beautifully rich wine. Medium to full-bodied, heady and succulent, it is best drunk over the next 5-6 years." (11/13)

Description:

Producer:
"The inspiration is a Burgundian concept of village nomenclature, applied to the Priorat - one region, nine historical villages, each with its distinct character but all unmistakably Priorat. Sun scorched vines cling to breathtakingly steep hillsides with their roots deeply plunged in the llicorella (slate) soils of this ancient region. Porrera, the easternmost village of the region, enjoys cooler temperatures due to its high altitude and canyon-like topography, lending a unique balance of power and freshness to the wine. Age of Vines: 60-100 years old. Aging: 12 months in 2 year old barrels."

"One of the oldest grape-growing families in the Priorat, the Sangenis family had historically sold the entirety of their production to the local coop until 1995 when they formed a new company, Mas d’en Compte, to bottle wine under their own name. Now, young Joan Sangenis manages the estate and makes the wines and has converted the entire estate away from chemical pesticides and herbicides. In a region where almost everyone has a few vines over 50 years old, the Sangenis family’s entire vineyard is practically this old, with several small parcels of 100+ year old vines of Grenache and Carignan. Also, they are one of the few holders of extremely old vine white Grenache, a varietal that many properties have ripped out. This old vine material means that yields are extremely low and concentration quite high." - Importer
