Description:

This 3-pack includes 1 bottle of 2004 - Terralsole Riserva Brunello, 1 bottle of 2007 - Capanne Ricci Brunello Di Montalcino, and 1 bottle of 2007 - Le Ragnaie Brunello Di Montalcino.

2004 - Terralsole Riserva Brunello
One of Wine Spectator's Wines of the Year in 2010 (#31)

"This changes all the time as you taste it, with aromas of dark fruit and porcini mushroom turning to cigar box and dried flowers. Full-bodied, with masses of fruit and chewy tannins. Really powerful and long. Best after 2011. 1,450 cases made. -JS" (06/10) - 96 Pts Wine Spectator

"Here's a thick and opulent Brunello Riserva with a pleasurable and forward style that puts emphasis on intensity, quality of fruit and texture. The wine boasts a dark garnet color with aromas that span from exotic spice to pressed flowers. It needs at least five more years of cellar aging because the tannins are still a bit young." (08/10) - 92 Pts Wine Enthusiast

Winemaking:
"Our guiding principal here at Terralsole is: Great wine is made in the vineyards, not the Cantina. With this in mind, Sangiovese Grosso was planted in 1996 on specifically chosen clonal selections and rootstocks dedicated to the soil types and vigor levels of our different terroirs, their aspect, and average diurnal temperatures."

"Harvest is 100% by hand, carried in small boxes to preserve the integrity of the skins. All harvesting is done quickly and in the precise moment to achieve peak ripeness. Grapes are gently de-stemmed and gravity fed into individually temperature-controlled tanks. All primary (alcoholic) and secondary (malolactic) fermentation is completed in stainless, finely temperature controlled steel tanks allowing the option of a cold maceration period for maximum extraction of bouquet, color and aromas. We are the only estate in Montalcino currently using 600 liter "Tonneaux" oak barrels from the Allier forest in France (tight grained/old oak trees by law) to age our Brunello. We use a variety of sizes including barriques of this same French oak to age our 3 IGT Varietals and Rosso di Montalcino." - Winery

2007 - Capanne Ricci Brunello Di Montalcino:
"Textbook Brunello nose from a warm vintage. It grabs from a wide array of elements at its disposal, with balsam, cola and humus, backed by ripe fruit and dark cherry. More layers appear as leather, earth and cured meat. Great complexity and balance. Closes elegant, fresh and clean. -M.L." (05/12) - 93 Pts Wine Enthusiast

"Deep ruby with orange rim. Savoury, full bodied and with quite substantial tannin. Not the most subtle, but long. (WS) Drink from 2012 to 2020." - 15 out of 20 Points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages.

Wine:
"Ruby red in color with slight garnet hues. Intense, soft, and spicy on the nose. Great tannic structure in the mouth. Well-balanced and elegant on the palate with a long finish. Pairs well with roasts, grilled meats, game, and aged cheeses." - Winery

Winery:
"The "Tenimenti Ricci" Estate located in Sant'Angelo is one of the older and more traditional rural establishments in this area of Brunello production. Ferruccio Ricci and his sister Ida, who manage the estate, are deeply rooted in family traditions and Montalcinese wine making, with a modern and youthful approach. The cellar has been recently restored and equipped with temperature conditioning rooms. There, the wine is made, aged in barrels made of Slovanian oak and then bottled. The vineyards cover about 12 hectares concentrating on the Sangiovese grape, planted in a privileged position on the land." - Winery

This wine was also scored 90 Points by James Suckling.

2007 - Le Ragnaie Brunello Di Montalcino:
"Medium red. Slightly reduced, musky, balsamic aromas of redcurrant, plum, strawberry and sweet tobacco. Tactile, concentrated and silky, with enticing medicinal reserve to the flavors of plum and salty minerality. Harmonious acidity gives this wine good mid-palate energy. Conveys an impression of strong extract. Finishes serious, distinctive and long, with smooth tannins." (07/12) - 92 Pts Ian Dagata - International Wine Cellar

"The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino caresses the palate with dark cherries, plums, spices, tobacco. This is an especially dark, plush Brunello from Le Ragnaie. In keeping with the style of the year, the 2007 is quite open today and will likely always be an accessible Brunello. With time in the glass the wine truly blossoms, showing off gorgeous nuances of sweet roses, spices and anise, all of which add considerable lift. The 2007 can be enjoyed today, but it needs to be opened at least 1-2 hours in advance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."

"Riccardo Campinoti is one of the most promising young producers in Montalcino. With the 2007 vintage, Campinoti is unveiling two new single-vineyard Brunelli. It will be fascinating to see where Le Ragnaie goes in the coming years. The wines are full of promise." (04/12) - 92 Pts Antonio Galloni - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"A broad, leather- and balsamic-tinged red, offering more savory, spice-tinged flavors than fruit. There's sweetness and balance, tending toward mushroom and woodsy notes on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2025. 2,100 cases made. -BS" (09/12) - 90 Pts Wine Spectator

"Pale ruby. Interestingly brambly on the nose. Light and fragrant with a dusty finish. So unlike the Brunellos of the 1990s! Chewy fine tannins on the end. An attractive whole. Drink from 2015 to 2024. (JR)" (10/12) - 16.5 out of 20 Points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages

Winery:
"Le Ragnaie winery extends over 28 hectres in the county of Montalcino which is located in the Province of Siena. Our land is coltivated with vines and olive groves and we follow the guidelines for Organic Agriculture. Our vineyards are divided into three distinct parcels of land throughout Montalcino which allows us to produce three diverse 'terroirs' of Brunello: Le Ragnaie: Vineyard is located in the central zone of Montalcino. The vines here enjoy the highest elevation of any vineyard in Montalcino."

"The winery is the property of Riccardo and Jennifer Campinoti who with the collaboration of their indispenable staff follow with meticulous attention every phase of the winemaking process. Always striving to produce a product of the highest quality while respecting the surrounding land." - Winery
