"How to virtually guarantee a luxury wine will be undervalued? Put it out under mass-market branding. If a wine this quality were marketed as boutique, it would likely sell for much more, as itâs a terrific example of old-vine Barossa Valley Shiraz. Itâs strongly marked by toasty oak, but the underlying fruit is bold and ripe without being overdone or jammy and the wine is modern without being devoid of structure or savoriness. Drink nowâ2025." |

"Firm in texture, generous and expressive in flavor, boasting dark berry and currant fruit that pushes against fine tannins, picking up a floral note as it lingers. Drink now through 2018. 2,500 cases imported." (06/12) |
Description:
"Full depth crimson red. A densely concentrated nose, showing regionally distinctive ripe black fruits and cocoa/dark chocolate, with clove/allspice highlights and cedar and deep vanilla oak in a supporting baritone role. Full-bodied yet softly structured the wine shows ripe berry fruit flavours that contribute to a richly textured mid-palate. Long in the mouth, with finely grained tannins and well integrated stylish oak characters, with restrained acidity closing out the long finish."
"In 1947, Fred Gramp planted a Moreton Bay fig tree to commemorate 100 years since his grandfather, Johann Gramp established the first commercial vineyard in the Barossa Valley along the banks of Jacob's Creek. The site was named Centenary Hill. This fine example of Barossa Shiraz is named after this location and today the Moreton Bay Fig still proudly overlooks Jacob's Creek. This wine has intense plum and spice aromas and flavours and is rich and full in the mouth with deliciously soft tannins. Fantastic with veal, duck, pork, lamb and meat casserole dishes, it also makes a good partner to cheeses at the end of a meal, particularly if the wine is bottle matured a few more years before opening.- Winery
Producer:
"In 1847, a young Bavarian immigrant called Johann Gramp missed the wine he used to drink in his home land. Instead of changing his habits, he decided to start growing grapes and attempt to make the wine himself. It was a way of adapting to a new country, but still staying true to his character. What he didn't know was that when he planted the Barossa Valley's first commercial vineyard along the banks of Jacob's Creek, he was also planting the seeds of one of the most popular wine brands in the world that would be named after the waterway."
"Today, Jacob's Creek remains one of the most well known, trusted and enjoyed Australian wines around the world. It delivers fresh, elegant and great tasting wines that show true varietal character."
"The philosophy of Jacob's Creek is to offer a range of wines that suit all occasions. As a company, we concentrate on two key things: The first is continuous improvement. Every vintage we strive to improve the quality of our wines by refining our winemaking practices and continually gaining a greater understanding of our vineyards. The second is that in everything we do, at every step of the winemaking process, from the vineyards all the way through to your glass, we all work with the final destination in mind. We do it for the most important wine critic. You." - Winery
