Description:

2004 La Togata Brunello Di Montalcino:
"Dark ruby in color, showing beautiful aromas of crushed berries, with hints of sultana, raisin and spices. Full-bodied, with a superrich, powerful palate. This has layers of fruit and a fabulous finish. Decadent and delicious. Best after 2011. 3,700 cases made. -JS" 95 Pts Wine Spectator (09/09)

"You'll love the buoyant freshness and immediate intensity of this lively Brunello. The wine's aromas include blackberries, leather, root beer and wild berries. It's lean and tonic in the mouth, suggesting a pairing with cheese-topped pasta or lasagna. -M.L." 91 points Wine Enthusiast (06/09)

WINERY:
La Togata Winery is owned by the attorney Danilo Tonon and by Mrs. Jeanneth Angel who is in charge of the export with special care of the U.S. market. Another acknowledgment of the quality of La Togata has been the inclusion, starting from Brunello Riserva 1999, in the Quirinale (President House) and Vatican City State Wine List. -Winery

This was also rated 88 points in the International Wine Cellar.

2004 Guigal Cote Rotie Brune Et Blonde:
"Ruby-red. Cherry-cola and raspberry preserves on the nose, with zesty minerality adding vivacity. Brisk, sharply focused red fruit flavors are braced by lively acidity, picking up silky tannins on the finish. In the elegant style of the year." 92-94 Pts Josh Raynolds - International Wine Cellar (02/08)

"This is rather gutsy for a 2004, with notes of beef, dark olive and tobacco holding sway over the dark cherry and currant core. The smoky finish shows lots of tobacco and olive notes. Drink now through 2020. 30,000 cases made. -JM" 91 points Wine Spectator(03/08)

WINE:
"Vineyards are located in plots on steep slopes Cote Blonde and in silicone limestone soil Cote Brune. The soil is rich in iron oxide. The average age of the vines is 35 years."

"96% Syrah, 4% Viognier. Dark ruby red. Spices, red berries and delicate oak aromas on the nose. The palate has round, soft tannins. Aromas of raspberry, blackberry and vanilla. Balance between scarcely perceptible acidity and tannins which add aging potential and softened by long aging in oak." -Winery

This was also rated 86 points by Robert Parker.
