Please note, orders are processed on a first come basis. If you leave the wine in your cart for even a few minutes it might have already sold out as our stock quantity is removed when you submit the order in final, not when you add it to your cart!

You will get two emails from us with regards to your order. The first email from us only confirms that we received your order. The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. Due to the high volume of sales there are times when the wine has sold out, but our system is still updating and shows it as available. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

91 Pts Wine Spectator

"Round and fruity, with crushed black fruit and a hint of oaky vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, balanced finish. Concentrated and rich, with lots of coffee and berry character. Best after 2009. 4,330 cases made. -JS" (03/08)

90+ Pts Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The backward 2005 Fontenil displays some of the vintage's structured tannins and potential ageability. Sweet raspberry, black currant, crushed rock, and spring flower aromas emerge from this medium-bodied effort. It possesses beautiful concentration and purity, but requires another 1-2 years of bottle age. It should keep for 15+ years."

"There is no doubting the consistent quality that emerges from this top-notch Fronsac estate (the residence of the brilliant oenologists Dany and Michel Rolland)." (04/08)

Description:

"Exceptionally dark. Very opulent with an enormous hit of ripe fruit on the front palate and just the merest hint of a char and drying tannins on the finish. This does split the difference between Fronsac and, actually, almost St-Emilion! Just a bit too dry and sudden on the finish (hence no higher mark) but the nose is lovely. Drink 2012 to 2018. (JR)" 16 out of 20 points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages (04/06)

WINERY:
"Dany and Michel Rolland are the heirs to a solid family wine tradition. Both have degrees in Oenology from the University of Bordeaux, and they know the Fronsac appellation well. In 1986, they acquired a few hectares in the commune of Saillans, which they called Chateau Fontenil, after the name of one of the plots in the vineyard. The vines are on a slope with a southerly aspect, looking down on the river Isle - a tributary of the Dordogne - and the town of Libourne. Tradition co-exists with new technology including small stainless steel and wooden vats, a double sorting table and barrel stock of which 60% are renewed each year. Yeild control from pruning the vines until green harevesting is employed and harvest is done manually, plot by plot using small crates." -Importer
