"On the nose, the wine has honey, and fig. There's a fine flavor of dried plums and apricots, Christmas spices, and raisins. The wine can age until 2060." -Winery
VINIFICATION:
"The vines are between 25-40 years old and the soils are weathered blue-gray Devonian shale. The grapes are macerated, then followed by a pressing. Spontaneous fermentation with the lees in stainless steel tank ensues.The wine spends 5 months on the lees. The residual sugar is 200 g / l and the acid level is 7.2 g / l. The yield is 8 hl / hectare." -Winery
VINEYARDS:
"The vineyards are located in the best locations of Trittenheim Mehring on a total of 6 hectares of vineyards. It is planted with 100% Riesling. The Mehringer Zellerberg, Trittenheimer Altarchen, and Apotheke parcels are among the oldest of the 'Fährfels'. Especially the very high proportion of 50 year old Rebbe stands, which are deeply rooted in the slate, give the wines their distinctive minerality. In "Fährfels" the vines come out of the plant was documented in 1900." -Winery
