1998 - Seavey Cabernet Sauvignon
"The outstanding 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from an extremely small crop, is an example of what the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon producers are jokingly saying is "another fine wine from a bad vintage." A rich, full-bodied, dense effort on a fast evolutionary track, the 1998 is loaded with chocolatey, black cherry, and cassis fruit, an open-knit, sexy, expansive texture, outstanding concentration and purity, low acidity, and a fat, chewy finish. It will be drinkable upon release, yet promises to age well for 12-15 years." 90 points Robert Parker
"Full ruby. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, shoe polish and bitter chocolate. Concentrated and ripe but a bit tough in the mouth; in a distinctly dryer style than the '99. Flavors dominated by cassis and licorice. Finishes with rugged tannins. Built to age. There actually about 14.5% alcohol here, according to winemaker Philippe Melka." 90 points - Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar
This was also rated 89 points by the Wine Spectator.
2009 - Campo Alla Sughera Adeo
"A bright red, with morello cherry, black currant and floral notes, this is pure and fresh, wearing its oak with subtlety and lingering with a fruit and spice aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2013 through 2023." 89 Points - Wine Spectator (10/11)
"A 50-50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Adèo delivers bright fruit tones of fresh raspberry and blueberry with loads of spice at the back. Here it is: a perfect pasta wine." 89 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2/12)
"The height of the wine cellar is exploited, making the most of gravity to move the grapes, must and wines. After de-stemming, the steel maceration tanks are fed from a height without using pumps or augers, which can damage the solid part of the grape. Maceration, together with intense pumping and punching down, is carried out for 10 days at a controlled temperature. After de-vatting and first racking, the wine is decanted partly into steel tanks and partly into barrels for malolactic fermentation."
Ageing: wines made from a blend of vines are aged separately for 12 months in French oak barrels. The wine is assembled before bottling and refined for a further 4 months." -Winery
"Campo alla Sughera is Knauf's winegrowing company based in the heart of Bolgheri, the homeland of great Italian wines. It is in this place that Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are able to express their great qualities. This ability to emerge from the "terroir" of Bolgheri is the basis of the companyâs products. Adeo (Bolgheri DOC Rosso), a "blend" of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, refined for twelve months in French oak barrels and matured in the bottle for approximately four months." -Winery
"The vineyard was conceived according to two cardinal principles: maximum grape quality and maximum mechanization during growing.
Campo alla Sughera has thus created a highly specialized vineyard which covers an area of about 20 hectares. The plots making up the vineyard are all located inside the Bolgheri DOC area, bordered by the Fosso di Bolgheri waterway, which runs alongside the estate itself."
"This is a terroir which is perfectly suited for the production of top quality wines, both red and white. The micro-climate benefits from sea breezes from the coast, which is just a few kilometers away." -Winery
2007 CHATEAU HAUT BRISSON LA RESERVE
"The outstanding 2007 La Reserve is one of the vintage's most interesting wines. Its new oak component is more than adequately compensated for with copious quantities of black currant and black cherry fruit, cedarwood, and spice box notes. Generous and opulent with medium to full body and a long, layered finish, it should drink well for 7-10 years." -90 points Robert Parker
"80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon , and 5% Cabernet Franc. The aromatics are really full, you've got this raspberry/radish thing going on that I think is fascinating. So you get a little hint of vegetal, with a lot of fruit as well. This still has tremendous structure and tannins, balanced throughout, and really an aggressive Right Bank structure that really excites me. This is a red fruit wine, not a dark fruit wine, with a midpalate that's kind of chalky, grainy, and a hint of Old World, that really this is not going to be mistaken for a Washington State Merlot. This is through and through Old World Bordeaux. This is easily one of the better deals we've had in 2011." -Gary Vaynerchuk
