94 Pts Antonio Galloni - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2006 Barolo Margheria shows lovely density and richness in a mid-weight style. This is a refined expression of Serralunga. Bright red fruits, spices and violets are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass, followed by darker cherries, flowers and minerals that develop with air. The finish is elegant and long, while the tannins reveal considerable finesse. All in all, this is a winner from Massolino. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031."

"This is a superb set of 2006 Barolos from Massolino. The wines show a combination of power and elegance that in some ways recalls 1996. These 2006s will require time, but the investment will be well worth it. Massolino remains very much in the traditional camp. If anything, an increase in the use of cement (especially for the malos) and a greater reliance on large oak for the Barolo Parafada signal a move towards more classicism in the wines. These exceptionally pure, elegant Barolos merit special consideration." 94 points - Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate

"This is a rich and beautifully extracted Barolo that opens with concentrated aromas of toasted hazelnut, chocolate fudge, cherry, licorice and exotic spice. In the mouth, it offers firm, finely textured tannins and a powerful but delicious finish." 94 points Wine Enthusiast

"A dark, brooding style, featuring blackberry, black currant, violet and iron aromas and flavors. This is encased in stiff, dusty tannins right now, but there's fine purity of fruit and sweetness at its core, so be patient. Best from 2014 through 2035. -BS" 93 points Wine Spectator

"Dense and tight for a 2006, with good fruit and chewy tannins. It’s fresh and floral. Racy. Better after 2013." 91 points - James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com

"Serralunga d'Alba. Deep, almost violet-looking ruby - odd. Fine but international. Whiff of bacon. Concentrated cherry fruit, and tobacco hints. Complex, very young still, very fine drying tannin. Drink 2013 to 2019. (WS)" 16 out of 20 points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages

"A deep ruby red color. It has lots of earthy, ripe fruit aromas. Then turns floral. Pure fruit. Violets. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and great structure. It is rich, minerally and firm with a persistent finish." -Importer
