Description:

2007 FELSINA FONTALLORO:
"Good full red with a palish rim. Pure, superripe aromas of red cherry, violet, iodine and nutmeg. Superrich, highly concentrated and seamless, with densely packed flavors of raspberry, dark plum and marzipan. Finishes creamy-rich and explosively long, with a pretty violet note. This was so good I really had trouble letting the glass go. It's also the only time I can remember Fontalloro outclassing Rancia (of which I am a huge fan) by such a wide margin, something I had noticed even when tasting barrel samples of these two wines in the estate's cellar two years ago. I'd wait a good five years on this one, then enjoy it for another two decades. Proof positive that sangiovese is one of the world's great grape varieties." 96 points - Ian D'agata - International Wine Cellar

"The 2007 Fontalloro is round, sweet and inviting, very much in keeping with the style of the vintage. The fruit tends towards the redder end of the spectrum vis-a-vis the Rancia and the Fontalloro seems to possess a touch more freshness. Floral, spiced notes add lift on the finish. As attractive as the 2007 Fontalloro is, and it is very pretty, the wine does not have a particularly bright track record of developing the noblest aromas and flavors in bottle. In my experience, it is better to err on the side of youth in deciding when to drink Fontalloro. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022." 93 points - Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate

"There's blackberry and blueberry galore in this full-bodied wine, which has chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Juicy and wonderfully fruity. Best after 2011. 3,335 cases made. -JS" 92 points Wine Spectator

2007 I GIUSTI & ZANZA DULCAMARA:
"This gorgeous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot offers beautiful intensity and impressive complexity. Aromas here include black cherry, exotic spice, leather, fine tobacco and loads of plush, ripe fruit. It's a smooth velvety wine but the tannic backbone gives it lift and staying power." 94 points Wine Enthusiast

VITICULTURE:
"The soil consist of sandy-gravel and clay limestone Hills up to 70% of sand guarantees a good soil drainage. Together with the brightness of the places and due to the proximity of the coast, are the most important qualities of this site. As said our vineyards are made only of red grapes clones as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot, but other important red clones like Syrah and Petit Verdot are inserted in the new vineyards. The old vineyards as well as in the new ones we carry out the harvest by hand to perform a first quality choice of the grapes. -Winery

VINIFICATION:
"We develop the vinification in a traditional way, exploiting the must natural capacities of extraction with smooth handlings and a long vatting of 18-21 days, it depends on the grape variety and on their ripening." -Winemaker

WINE:
"I.G.T. Toscano Rosso. Grapes: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot aged in 300 liter French tonneaux for about eighteen months, then twelve months in bottle before the release on the market."

"Deeply intense purple color. Nose of a classic Cabernet with cherries and currant. Big wine with lots of up front tannins, fruit is soft and subtle. It shows wonderful development potential for long term aging." -Winery

This scored 87 points with the Wine Spectator.
