"A rich earthy bouquet is balanced by nuances of spice, cherry stone and blackberry. Balanced tannins and acids carry this richness through to the palate with lingering notes of violets and thyme. A wine to be enjoyed in all seasons. All of the fruit is from vineyards in the Rapaura District of the Marlborough river valley. Family owned and operated, this 'grower' family turned to winemaking 1992. Mostly stainless steel with a few parcels aged in used French oak." -Importer

"The fruit for this wine was fermented in stainless steel at warm temperatures to extract flavor and intensity into the wine."
VINEYARDS:
"The sunny southern side of Marlboroughâs Wairau Valley is home to Wild Southâs estate vineyards, situated in the lower reaches of the Waihopai Valley. Focusing on the production of premium Marlborough varietal wines, Wild Southâs portfolio consists of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Wild Southâs Waihopai Valley Estate Vineyard consists of 60 hectares of plantings on the sunny southern side of Marlboroughâs Wairau Valley. This is a classic Marlborough vineyard site of stones and overlying silts and with its north facing aspect captures the suns heat during the crucial ripening period. The vineyard is planted predominately with Sauvignon Blanc, including small plantings of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. In addition to its estate vineyards, Wild South also draws on strong relationships it holds with other contract growers around the region. This enables the winery to source additional grape resources from other premium vineyard sites ensuring constancy of quality and wine style from vintage to vintage."
