2009 SOJOURN CELLARS SONOMA COAST PINOT NOIR
"Medium-deep ruby color; deep, lush, spicy cinnamon and cherry aromas; deep, rich spicy cherry flavors with some oak and silky texture; good structure and balance; long finish. Deep and forward fruit really make this a delight to drink." 94 Points - Pinot Report
"Slowly unfolding its savory herb, cola, wild berry and spice attributes, this gains depth and nuance, ending with a pleasing mix of complex flavors. Drink now through 2016. 800 cases made." -91 Points - Wine Spectator
"The 2009 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast, which is a blend from two sites, Rodgers Creek and Keller Estate, is another wine made from the modern clones 115, 777, 667 as well as the older Pommard selection. More sassafras/rootbeer notes intermixed with herbs, flowers and berry fruit make for a complex, cool-climate impression aromatically, and a good, fleshy, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, with more spice and earthiness, jump from the glass. Winemaker Erich Bradley seems to have the Midas touch with the beautifully opulent, round and generous texture he builds into these wines without any sense of weightiness. Purity and nicely integrated wood, tannin and acidity are also admirable. This wine should drink well for 5-6 years." -90+ Points - Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate
"Based in the town of Sonoma, Sojourn Cellars is a highly acclaimed winery specializing in the production of artisan Pinot noir and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. We source fruit from celebrated vineyards in both Sonoma and Napa Counties, and we help direct farming operations to assure that our grapes are produced using world-class growing techniques. We consistently produce remarkable wines with a hands-off natural winemaking style that showcases the character and personality of the individual vineyards."
"Sojourn feels passionate about creating high-quality wines and always being accessible to the people who buy and enjoy our wines. Sojourn offers seated tastings in a casual, yet sophisticated environment and prides itself on always putting the customer first." -Winery
2006 MARIMAR MAS CAVALLS DONA MARGARITA VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
"A brilliant Pinot Noir, grown organically from the winery's new vineyard in a cool part of the coastal mountains. More tannic and acidic than Pinots from the estate vineyard in Green Valley, it offers lush, deep flavors of cherries, black raspberries, gingersnap cookies and almond biscotti. Just terrific, and will take a few years of bottle age in a cool cellar." 94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Marimar Torres's Dona Margarita Vineyard is located on the Bohemian Highway between Freestone and Occidental, seven miles from the Pacific. Planted on Gold Ridge sandy loam over fractured sandstone, the vines are closely spaced and farmed organically. And they produced two of the top pinots in our report: this 2006, and the 2007 W.H. Smith (below)."
"The fragrant scent of roses seems to develop out of the tannins in this wine, as if the stems of the grape bunch were just as ripe as the fruit. There's a pungent edge to the bright strawberry flavor, brisk and fresh in the middle, relaxing into a beautiful floral spice. Pour this savory pinot with traditional Burgundian fare, like tripe or coq au vin confit." -94 points Wine & Spirits
"Nestled in the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, the Russian River/Green Valley appellation is a perfect microclimate for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Only 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 50 miles north of San Francisco, the site is influenced by the sea's cooling breezes and drifting fog. That is why Marimar Torres selected this privileged location to 'export' the Torres family legacy of fine wines to California." -Winery
"Sonoma Coast Appellation of Origin, on the Bohemian Highway, between Freestone and Occidental. It is seven miles from the Pacific Ocean. This vineyard is located in a very cool microclimate, classified as Region 1. The ocean fog provides cool nights, but days are warm as the vineyard is usually above the fog line." -Winery
This wine also scored 87 points by both the Wine Spectator and Allen Meadows of Burghound.
