"The 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico La Marega is rather closed in on itself. It shows gorgeous palate presence and weight, but the bouquet is muted and the elements don't quite come together in the glass. Still, over time, enough of the wine's fabric comes to life to make me think all it needs is time. Dried flowers, minerals, new leather and wild cherries comes through on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026."

WINE:
"This is a blend of 65% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, and 15% a mix of Croatina, Dindarella, and Sangiovese. Dark ruby red color with garnet highlights. The bouquet reveals intense perfumes of ripe cherries, almonds and vanilla. Sweet tannins on the palate. Long finish. Perfect with aged cheese, game, red and roasted meat." -Importer

VINIFICATION:
"Selected grapes are laid our for drying on drying table for five months. Alcoholic fermentation occurs for 40 days at controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is aged for 22 months in Slovenian oak, 14 months in barriques, and 8 months in bottle." -Importer

"The Scamperle family has cultivated vineyards for generations. We have twenty hectares of property, located in the best areas of Classica Valpolicella. The grapes grown are the most classical ones of the area: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara, as well as some Oseleta and Croatina. Our winegrowing culture never forces natureâs hand, but favours the rhythms of nature to exalt the characteristics and originality of the Valpolicella terrain." -Importer
