"The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Galets Blonds includes 90% Grenache from nearly 100-year-old vines blended with 10% Syrah from the renowned sector in the eastern part of the appellation known as Le Crau. This brilliant offering displays black raspberry, black cherry, floral, forest floor, underbrush, and cassis characteristics along with superb concentration, an opaque purple color, a gorgeously intense, multidimensional mouthfeel, and a sensational finish."

"I have long been a big fan of this cuvee, having bought and cellared vintages from the late nineties through 2001, and those wines took 3-4 years to develop, and are aging beautifully. The 2007 is potentially one of the best Lesec has yet made. It should drink well for 10-15 years." 94 Points - Robert Parker

"Bright purple. Ripe cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complemented by rooty sassafras and cola. Broad, palate-coating dark fruit flavors are framed by chewy tannins that fade into the fruit on the back half. A sexy floral note gains power with air and carries through the long, sappy, floral-tinged finish. This will be better with a few more years of bottle age." 91 Points - Josh Raynolds - International Wine Cellar

"Patrick Lesec established his negociant firm in 1993. Having found that customers in his restaurant in California were frequently disappointed with French wines, he began to seek out his own sources of supply, mostly from the Rhone Valley...Patrick Lesec Selections includes eight different estate-bottled red wines from Chateauneuf du Pape. Patrick works closely with 'non-interventionist' producers under contract to make top quality wines."

"Some of the vineyards are located in the lieux-dits La Crau, Valori, Le Cristia...and Palestor. All of these wines have a high content of old Grenache...and are treated with as little sulfur as possible. They are neither fined nor filtered." -Harry Karis, The Chateauneuf du Pape Wine Book

"A rustic yet smooth and harmonious style, with dusty berry, mineral, sage and herb scents that form a complex core of flavors. There's good intensity, and the tannins are in check. Ends with a minerally aftertaste, making this a wine that's very true to its appellation. Best from 2008 through 2016. 2,500 cases made."-91 Points Wine Spectator

"Deep ruby-red. Cassis, black cherry and menthol on the pure, slightly medicinal nose. Dense, sweet and pure, with lovely delineation and depth to the flavors of dark berries, bitter chocolate and mint. Chewy but pliant. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins and very good length. Classic Howell Mountain cabernet from a ripe year." -91 Points - Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar

"Look northeast from the town of St Helena, and you’ll see the west facing slopes of Howell Mountain rising high above the Napa Valley floor along the eastern side of the Silverado Trail. Ladera’s Howell Mountain vineyard sits across the broad summit of a ridge of that mountain, and in spite of altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 1,800 feet, the terrain is rolling and gentle."

"It’s a scene that looks remarkably peaceful for a mountain with a volcanic past. The volcanic soils are evident, however, in the deep red color of the soil that is part of the magic of Howell Mountain. The valley fog doesn’t reach these elevations, but in spite of full days of sunlight, high temperatures at this altitude are cooler than those at the valley floor. While fruit development lags behind the valley floor in the early part of the year, we catch up in ripeness later in the year when we are bathed in sunlight and the valley floor is still covered in Pacific fog."

"In 1982 Howell Mountain was officially designated as California’s first sub-appellation within Napa Valley. By that time, it had been recognized as a unique site for prized and prestigious vineyards for over a century." -Winery
