"Les Charmes is considered the archetype of Meursault wines. It is a rich, round and powerful wine, a perfect accompaniment to calf’s sweetbread as well as fish, poultry and white meat with cream. You may drink it young within three to five years in order to enjoy the combination of fruit and unctuosity. It will take five to seven years for this wine, however, to develop all of its power and finesse. " -Winery

VINEYARDS:
"Situated south of Dijon in the département of Cote-d'Or, Meursault is a Burgundian village in the heart of the Cote de Beaune and famous for its great white wines and its subtle, tender and elegant reds. It has a population of 1,600 inhabitants and a surface area of 1,622 ha, 1,005 of which are AOC vineyards (appellations of controlled origin) and planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligote vines."

"Meursault is the commercial center of the four communes comprising that part of the Cote de Beaune known as the "Cote des Blancs," so named for the quality and predominance of its white wines. The communes of Meursault, Blagny, Chassagne and Puligny define this four-mile strip characterized by a patchwork of chalky soils ideally suited to the Chardonnay grape."

"Of the 1,138 acres of vineyards, predominantly planted in white vines, which fall in the three classifications Meursault, Meursault Premier Cru, and Meursault-Blagny, approximately 30 percent are ranked premier cru.
