89 Pts Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2007 Syrah is from cool-climate Aconcagua. It offers up an enticing nose of black raspberry, blueberry, and gamy/smoky notes. Smooth-textured, balanced, and long, it closely resembles a top quality Crozes-Hermitage." -89 points - Jay Miller - Wine Advocate
"The grapes for our Arboleda Syrah 2007 came from our Las Vertientes vineyard in the Valle de Aconcagua. This region features an extended dry season with moderately warm summer days cooled by gentle afternoon breezes that blow in from the Pacific Ocean. Las Vertientes' Syrah vines were planted in 2000 with French clones 300 and 174."
"The vineyards feature deep soils of colluvial origin, and the high percentage of stone compounds that averages 50-70% of the total volume provides excellent drainage and medium vigour, which is very appropriate for this vigorous and highly productive variety. Syrah typically has intense, vivid colour, but in this part of the Valle de Aconcagua, the high daytime/night time temperature differential that averages 20°C / 36°F in the weeks prior to harvest further enhances the rich colour and also produces sweet, elegant tannins." -Winery
"The 2006-2007 season registered overall temperatures that corresponded quite closely to those of a normal year. Low yields, restrictive water management, and delaying the harvest for 10-14 days allowed the grapes to reach good levels of maturity with ripe phenolics, rich flavours, sweet tannins, very high quality, and excellent acidity." -Winery
This wine also scored 87 points by Josh Raynolds of the International Wine Cellar.
