"This snappy Syrah takes advantage of the Viognier skins added during fermentation, which lifts the high end aromatics, contributing aromas of flower and pine resin. It's sharp and well-defined, pungent and expressive, with very tight berry fruits at the core. This has real lift to the acids and aromas, and begins to show a bit of the roasted character of the Rhone as it breathes. Give it plenty of time to really open up." -90 points Wine Enthusiast

WINE:
"The grapes are sourced from the vineyards. The blend is 91% Syrah and 9% Merlot and is co-fermented with Viognier skins. The 2005 vintage was warm with extended hang time. The wine spent 18 months in French Oak, of which 35% is new. Bottled in April 2007."

"This Syrah is truly a valley wide blend, with grapes from cobble, hillside and terrace microclimates and soil types. Aromas of pine and orange peel give way to smoke and gamey characters. The palate echoes the aroma, dominated by smoky Syrah notes, with ripe red fruits, pepper and vanilla accents. There's great integration on an open structure, with brightness and youth setting the stage for beautiful evolution in the bottle." -Winery
