Description:

2008 Luna Beberide Finca Cuesta:
"The 2008 Finca la Cuesta is a single vineyard Mencia sourced from 60-year-old vines. It was fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in French and American oak. It exhibits a splendid, nearly kinky bouquet of roasted black fruits, smoke, and herbs. Smooth-textured, already complex, and seriously pleasure-bent, this lengthy effort will evolve for at least another 2 years and drink well through 2018. It is a terrific value." -91 points- Jay Miller- Wine Advocate

"Inky ruby. Spicy black cherry, tobacco, minerals, licorice and menthol on the nose, all lifted by a floral topnote. Taut, focused and quite primary; today this is all zesty dark fruits and seems quite unformed. Impressively nervy and dry, with chewy extract and emerging notes of graphite, herbs and Indian spices. This very fresh, slowly evolving wine finishes with sneaky tannins and firm mineral-driven persistence." -90 points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar

WINE:
"Fruit for this wine is sourced from a single steeply-sloped, south-facing vineyard in Villafranca de Bierzo. The vineyard is between 700-800 meters in elevation and is planted to 60 year old vine Mencia. The soils are comprised of Bierzo's two main soil types, decomposed slate and limestone based clay. Following fermentation with native yeasts in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine was aged for 12 months in 75% French and 25% American oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered." -Importer

This scored 88 points by the Wine Spectator.

2003 Hunt Cellars Bon Vivant Cabernet Sauvignon:
"Soft, smooth and elegant in texture, savory in flavor, this Central Coast Cab tastes of cherries, cassis, mocha and licorice. Smoky oak turns up on the finish. Forward enough to drink now, but it should hold for a couple of years." 90 Points - Wine Enthusiast

WINERY:
"When The Hunt Family decided to pursue their dream they were uncertain where they would choose to build their vineyard. The Hunts spent exhaustive days and weekends traveling to various premium wine regions from Oregon, Washington, and throughout the State of California. They finally narrowed their decision down to the Central coast to San Luis Obispo County. Paso Robles was selected because of its rich diversity in soils, superb growing climate and unique styles of wine making along with the spirit of graciousness and traditional American values."

"Eventually after looking at numerous parcels of vineyard potential property, they settled on uniquely beautiful property containing over 550 acres on Highway 41 in Creston. This unique property met their criteria in topography, soil composition and unparralled beauty. Within the 550 acres there are four terroir's with varying elevations containing soil composites that mirror the great wine regions of the world. They were convinced that they could grow wonderful exciting intense fruit here on this property. Destiny Hunt." -Winery

2006 Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon:
"Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon is a quintessential Napa Valley Cab. The season provided the ideal combination of cool evenings and warm-cool days. Allowing a slow, even ripening that let tannins, sugars and flavors develop in unison. The result of this long hang time is a wine with supple tannins, complexity, intense flavors and excellent overall balance." -Winery

WINERY:
"Thirty-one vintages ago, Justin Meyer took over winemaking at Franciscan with a highly meticulous approach. He divided our Oakville estate into separate sections and made a collection of individual wines from them, each with a unique expression. He then blended the best lots together with extra care to create a wine with a distinct profile – rich, concentrated flavors yet soft, gentle tannins. On the back label he wrote, “This 1975 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon represents the style and character we wish to make synonymous with Franciscan.” And so our tradition of small lot winemaking began."

"Over time we’ve added more vineyards, but our Oakville estate - still divided into the original vineyard blocks – continues to form the core of our Cabernet Sauvignon. With each vintage, we make up to 200 separate lots of wine, and then hone the blend during the year-and-a-half of barrel aging, blind tasting trial blends repeatedly before selecting the final blend. Only the finest lots are included." -Winery

This wine was scored 87 Points Wine Enthusiast and 82 Points Wine Spectator.

2008 Estancia Cabernet Sauvignon:
"Deep garnet with crimson hues. Effusive black cherry, Dutch chocolate and currant complement th spicy, peppery notes of toasted sweet oak. Opulent dark fruit, soft velvety tannins, ending with a long, rich finish." -Winery

WINERY:
"Roughly translated from the Spanish word for “estate,” Estancia’s name emphasizes our founder, Augustin Huneeus' conviction that the world’s best wines capture the essence of their place of origin. In 1986, he purchased the former Paul Mason vineyard ranches in the Monterey town of Soledad and established it as the home of Estancia Winery and of cool climate varietals, planting the Pinnacles Vineyards to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir."

"In 1999, almost 700 acres in Paso Robles were purchased as the vineyard base for Estancia Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and Red Meritage. Today, our founder's terroir-based belief continues with controlled farming practices and a company-wide commitment to high quality at an affordable price." -Winery

This wine was scored 83 Points Wine Enthusiast and 82 Points by the Wine Spectator.
