"This has a really solid core of dark plum and macerated currant, with fig sauce and dark coffee notes. The long, fleshy finish still has some grip to shed. Grenache and Mourvedre. Best from 2009 through 2014. 6,250 cases made." -91 points Wine Spectator

A Cellar Tracker favorite! This wine scored a median of 90 points in 24 notes. Click here to read all of the reviews!

"Deep ruby. Impressively pungent, smoky scents of red and dark berries, with a deep espresso quality adding power. Youthfully chewy in texture, with weighty dark fruit flavors and serious tannins and finishing grip. Clearly excellent material here but this is a tough read today." -91 Points - Josh Raynolds - International Wine Cellar

"Dark in color and profile, with scents of cola and plum leading the way, then a touch of mushroominess from the 20% of Mourvedre in the blend. Chewy, then turns a bit drying on the finish; still, there’s plenty of concentration. Drink 2012–2020." -90 points Wine Enthusiast

"Classified as a 'CRU' in 1971. Sixteen hectares (3 parcels) planted with Grenache and Mourvedre of which 12 hectares are very old vines which date from 1925. Vinification is traditional with total destemming and is very lightly crushed. This wine sees no oak." -Winery

Featured in a 2008 Wine Spectator article, "Gigondas: Chateauneuf's 'Little Cousin' Shows Its Style", the owners, Christine and Eric Saurel, explained their change from traditional agriculture to organic and biodynamic.

"The Saurels' epiphany came in the mid-1990s when they used homeopathic methods to cure their ailing daughter. Christine and Eric began to consider working their vineyards in the same way.'When Eric's father sprayed herbicides or pesticides in the fields, he would warn us to close the windows to the house,' says Christine. 'When I asked if he gave his neighbors the same warning, his answer was no, and his embarrassment at that helped push us to change.' The Saurels went to work on converting their property, which was fully biodynamic by 1996." -James Molesworth, Wine Spectator

"...in 1999 Montirius became the first winery in the Vacqueyras & Gigondas appellations to be certified Bio-Dynamic. The estate is certified organic by Ecocert and Bio-Dynamic by Biodyvin." -Importer

"Dark and winey, with a pure beam of dark fig and blackberry fruit laced with cocoa powder, Black Forest cake and espresso notes. Stays pure and driven through the solid, well-structured finish. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2010 through 2015. 10,000 cases made." -90 points Wine Spectator

"Bright red. Strikingly complex nose displays vivid red berries, garrigue and dried flowers. Sweet but tightly wound redcurrant and strawberry flavors are complemented by candied lavender and rose, with silky tannins lending support. Leaves a zesty note of white pepper behind on the briskly refreshing, persistent finish. The blend here is 70% grenache, 20% syrah and 10% mourvedre." -90 points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar
