Description:

2007 RASA VINEYARDS QED:
"QED stands for Quod Erat Demonstrandum (what was to be shown). A further motto on the label reads 'the proof is in the bottle.' This is supple, almost voluptuous, dark, sappy, packed with compressed black fruits, streaked with iodine and coffee. It shows excellent length and opens with scents hinting of game, earth, sweet mocha, lead pencil and cedar. Complex and intriguing, with six or eight year aging potential. A very impressive debut." -94 points Wine Enthusiast

"The first release, the 2007 QED is made up of 94% Syrah, 3% Grenache, and 3% Mourvedre sourced from several top vineyards. It was aged in 25% new French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a classy nose of pepper, mineral, smoked meat, game, spice box, and blueberry. This leads to a mouth-filling, intense, super-concentrated, opulent wine that has enough underlying structure to evolve for 3-4 years. It will deliver much pleasure through 2022 if not longer. This is a very fine debut indeed!" -93 Points - Jay Miller - The Wine Advocate

"This estate's first release and a mix of 94% Syrah, 3% Grenache and 3% Mourvèdre, the 2007 Rasa Vineyards QED is much more full, and ripe on the nose with decadent cassis and blackberry fruit, roasted meat, truffle, licorice and roasted herb aromatics. These lead into a full bodied, powerful wine that carries fresh acidity, a brilliant, seamless texture, perfect balance and long, quality finish. While I think the ’08 might age longer, this should still drink beautifully over the next 10 to 15 years." -93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck - The Rhone Report

"(94% syrah, 3% grenache and 3% mourvedre, from Les Collines vineyard; aged for 18 months in all new French barriques Good deep ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose melds kirsch, mocha, smoked meat and brown spices. Chewy, dense and saline, with dark cherry, mocha and gunflint flavors accented by an emerging note of white pepper. In a rather suave style, this plush, round, fine-grained wine finishes with sweet tannins and excellent breadth." -91 Points - Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar

VINEYARDS:
"First planted in 2000, Les Collines Vineyard has gained a reputation as a source for fantastic fruit. We have leased 2.5 acres of Block 19 Syrah- some of the oldest vines in this vineyard. Our inaugural Syrah will be made with fruit primarily from this vineyard. In the QED, the majority of the Syrah fruit comes from the Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla with Syrah from Seven Hills Vineyard (Walla Walla) and Lewis Vineyard (Yakima) playing supporting roles." -Winery

2006 NEYERS SYRAH CUVEE D'HONNEUR:
"Deep ruby-red. Spicy aromas of black raspberry, bacon fat and white pepper. Suppler, sweeter and fruitier than the Hudson bottling, with raspberry and spice flavors joined by dark chocolate on the back. Finishes with terrific spicy persistence and considerable power." -92 points- Stephen Tanzer- International Wine Cellar

"The 2006 Syrah Cuvee d'Honneur is a full-bodied, concentrated Syrah with peppery blackberry and cassis notes, more lard and bacon fat, with a hint of charcoal and smoke. The wine is opulent, fleshy, and ideal for drinking over the next 5-8 years."

"One would think Bruce Neyers has little time. After all, he is the full-time (or over-time) national sales representative for Kermit Lynch importing company. Yet Neyers also has an impressive portfolio of wines, some of which come from his own estate vineyards tucked away in the Conn Valley. His winemaker is none other than Turley Cellars' highly respected Ehren Jordan. I thought this was the strongest line-up of wines Neyers has yet produced, although last year the tastings were nearly as good, so he seems to be on a roll." -91 points Robert Parker

WINE:
"We've been producing a separate bottling of Syrah labeled as Cuvee d'Honneur since the 2000 vintage, and if you ever visit us at our Sage Canyon winemaking facility, you'll see that 50% of our production space is given over to the equipment necessary to produce old world-style Syrah. We strive to produce Syrah that is classic, what we've come to know and love from the Northern Rhone appellations of Cornas, Cote-Rotie and Hermitage. We named this wine 'Cuvee d'Honneur' in recognition of the extraordinary support we've received from a trio of prominent French vintners; Thierry Allemande, Auguste Clape and Noel Verset. Our thanks continue to this day. 246 cases produced" -Winery

WINERY:
"Begun in 1992 by Bruce and Barbara Neyers, Neyers Vineyards produces about 15,000 cases of wine annually. About 25% of our production is Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on our 50-acre, organically farmed Conn Valley ranch. The vineyard is managed by Maldonado Vineyard Management. We purchase additional grapes from a select group of growers, among them the Sangiacomo family of the Carneros District, Will Nord of Napa, Cam Thieriot of Sonoma Coast, Lee Hudson of Carneros, Jay and Pam Heminway of Chiles Valley, Rich Pato of Oakley, and the Tofanelli family of Calistoga." -Winery
