"Shows wonderfully elegant and subtle fruit aromas. Perfumed. Full-bodied, with very fine tannins and beautiful fruit. The finish is silky, with beautiful, complex flavors. Best after 2011. 300 cases made." -92 points Wine Spectator

WINERY:
"Giacomo Grimaldi, was founded in 1930 by Ernesto Grimaldi. In 1983 the winery was inherited by Giacomo, who sold the greatest part of his grapes in bulk, while keeping only a small part to be bottled for sale to a mostly local clientele."

"In 1996 Ferruccio Grimaldi, Giacomo's son decided to continue the family wine business. Animated by a great passion, Ferruccio started to produce wines exclusively from the family’s vineyards. He began acquiring vineyards of Nebbiolo in the most prestigious Barolo zones, firmly convinced of the great potential of Barolo wine. The family's vines grew from 1,5 hectares to 10 hectares. The current vineyards are situated in the communes of Barolo, Novello and Monforte and divided as follows: 6 hectares of Nebbiolo for Barolo, 2 of Barbera d'Alba, 1 of Dolcetto d'Alba, 1 of Nebbiolo."

"In the vineyard, there is significant attention and a deep devotion to the care of the vines. Ferruccio is renowned amongst other wine makers for his 'perfectionism' in caring for the plants. Green harvest is vital to Ferruccio, to reduce the quantity of the yield for a better quality."

"The total production of the Giacomo Grimaldi winery is 50.000 bottles divided among seven labels: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, Barbera d'Alba DOC, Barbera d'Alba Fornaci DOC, Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore DOC, Barolo DOCG, Barolo Sotto Castello di Novello DOCG, Barolo Le Coste DOCG." -Importer

So on searching wines unrelated to this offer, wyeitzit that sometimes Wine-Searcher list a vendor with a wine at a certain price, and when you click on the vendor what you get is the wine priced 50% higher? It must be something the vendors are doing, because the WL prices are always correct.

Hello Cindy Dudes and Dudettes!!! Busy today at work so I didn’t get a chance to view this offer until after it pumpkin-ed!!
Still saving myself for those two zins that were promised, and maybe a nice Cali Cab!! Will tonight be Cab night? If there was ever an appropriate time, I believe this evening would fit the bill!!

@WBW, @WIM, @NavyJ, @Josie – Hey girls!!! How y’all doin’? WBW & WIM – wish I could meet you for “Girls Night” at the Phillies game Tuesday evening, but I have a witness interview scheduled for 3pm and I’d never make it because of the distance. Maybe some other time……I am going to make it to South Jersey Wed. evening to celebrate the holiday with my family after all. Any thoughts on getting together for lunch on Thursday? I have to head down to MD later in the afternoon as I have school that Friday, but let me know if you’d like to meet for a fun lunch somewhere. WIM, you have my email address. WBW, if you’re interested, let me know and I’ll post my email address for you if you don’t have it already.

@Chippewa – To clearify the Felsina story, all their Chianti Classico wines are and have always been called Berardenga, a result of their location in the Nuova Berardenga commune. Even as far back as the 80′s, they have made three wines; Chianti Classico Berardenga, Chianti Classico Berardenga Riserva and Chianti Classico Berardenga Rancia Riserva. The first two are made from grapes from multi vineyard sites, the third from the Rancia vineyard.

Missed out on this offer too. I don’t have much experience with barolos so would have been great to try, but I’ve already got two orders on the way so not a big deal.

@GV–Hey, you need to stick around and conversate once in a while! We haven’t chatted with you in ages! I tell you, people get on the radio and forget who their friends are… :)

  14. Phredd

  15. WineBabyWhine

We are, GV, thanks. Well at least I am, I got a pedicure last night & love love love it. And so is baxter who had a hair appt. WIM got a contract, so she’s awesome. Brooks is not talking to ghosts of rocknroll past, so he’s awesome. Hope you are too!
    Hi NavyJ, BTW!!!

  16. BaroloDude

i have a feeling a lot of disappointed barolo fans will find their orders not fulfilled. I placed mine 10+ minutes before the pumpkin arrived, and i got shut out! I suppose this is just doing me a favor anyway, given how much other barolo i already have.
