"One of the top estates in the Languedoc-Roussillon, Chateau Puech-Haut is owned by Gerard Bru. It is a huge, 250-acre vineyard located close to the city of Montpellier, near the village of St.-Drezery. Two of the worldâs finest winemaking consultants, Michel Rolland and Claude Gros, share the responsibilities at this estate. Chateau Puech-Haut's wines are represented by Bordeaux wine broker Jeffrey Davies of Jeffrey M. Davies Signature Selections." -Robert Parker, in an April 2005 article in The Wine Advocate

"From rolling, hillside vineyards above the coastal Mediterranean city of Montpellier, Puech-Haut produces this dark ruby wine in its state-of-the-art winery solely from hand-harvested fruit. A blend of 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache Noir, and 15% 60-year old Carignan (this latter varietal is fermented using the maceration carbonique method), it is aged in a combination of one and two-wine old barrels for 12 to 14 months."
"This medium-full-bodied wine reveals complex aromas of toasty oak, tar and fresh laurel, while the palate offers concentrated flavors of red berries, minerals, and Provencal herbs. Although its ripe fruit and plump tannins make it enjoyable upon release, it tends to improve in bottle for a good five years after the vintage." -Importer
VINIFICATION:
"Vinification occurs in traditional wooden casks. The Syrah is macerated for 5 weeks and the Grenache for 3-4 weeks. Only 25% of the Syrah is aged in oak for 12 months. The rest of the wine is aged in neutral tanks." -Winery; translated by KM
