Description:

2006 PATRICK LESEC LES GALETS BLONDS CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE:
"The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Galets Blonds is composed of 85% Grenache, 12% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre. It exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as classic notes of creme de cassis, kirsch, licorice, spice box, pepper, and truffles. Full-bodied with layers of fruit, lovely sweetness, sweet tannin, and a lusty, heady, hedonistic finish, it should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 15+ years."

"Patrick Lesec's negociant operation is artisinal in nature, small, well-focused, and consistently reliable. The high point of the portfolio is unquestionably his Chateauneuf du Papes. Yet the low level wines are also worth checking out. Lesec's 2006 Chateauneuf du Papes are all successful."-93 points Robert Parker

"Deep red. Vibrant, floral-kissed cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by anise, garrigue and espresso elements. Stains the palate with deep, sweet cassis and bitter cherry flavors, picking up chewy tannins on the finish. Awfully suave and already complex. This is 93% grenache and 7% syrah, with all the grenache emanating from very old vines in La Crau, according to Lesec." -92-94 points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar

WINERY:
"Patrick Lesec established his negociant firm in 1993. Having found that customers in his restaurant in California were frequently disappointed with French wines, he began to seek out his own sources of supply, mostly from the Rhone Valley...Patrick Lesec Selections includes eight different estate-bottled red wines from Chateauneuf du Pape. Patrick works closely with 'non-interventionist' producers under contract to make top quality wines."

"Some of the vineyards are located in the lieux-dits La Crau, Valori, Le Cristia...and Palestor. All of these wines have a high content of old Grenache...and are treated with as little sulfur as possible. They are neither fined nor filtered." -Harry Karis, The Chateauneuf du Pape Wine Book

2004 LA RASINA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO:
"Shows blackberries, with hints of minerals and dried flowers on the nose. Intense aromas. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, long finish. Very long and beautiful. Best after 2011. 2,500 cases made." -93 points Wine Spectator

"La Rasina's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is a dense, full-bodied wine packed with ripe, dark plums, violets, new leather and sweet, fragrant spices. This is an opulent, fruit-driven style of Brunello, yet the wine possesses the gorgeous inner perfume, vibrancy and clarity of a top-flight wine. The sweet, long finish and soft tannins make this an excellent choice for drinking now and over the near-term. This is another outstanding effort from proprietor Marco Mantengoli. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016." -90 Points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate

WINE:
"The Brunello ages for 5 years, 2 of which are in oak casks and at least 6 months of refining rest in bottles. The color is ruby-red tending to garnet, scented nose of fruit and spice, the taste is robust and highly persistent. If it is well kept, it will last many years. It is suggested to open the bottle 2 hours before sipping the wine." -Winery

This also scored 87 points by Stephen Tanzer of International Wine Cellar.
