"Benjamin Romeo has been the winemaker at Artadi since its founding in 1985. He was born in the heart of Rioja in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra in 1964. The son of a grape grower, his entire life has been spent in a relationship with the vineyards and wine. He studied Enology at the University of Madrid." -Importer

WINERY:
Benjamin Romeo is easily one of the most talented winemakers in all of Rioja. He perfected his craft as the head winemaker for Artadi, and after 15 years he started his own label, Contador. It was an immediate smash hit, and since the brands inaugural vintage in 2000, Romeo regularly scored in the number 90s, and even hit the impressive 100 Point score. La Cueva del Contador is the entry level wine that really shows off the characteristics of the Contador vineyard, but with out the $300+ price tag per bottle.
