Description:

2005 LAIL BLUEPRINT RED:
"Philippe Melka has been our winemaker at Lail Vineyards since our inaugural vintage in 1995. He notes, the 2005 Blueprint is seductive and approachable. The wine reveals dark notes of blackberries intermixed with vanilla, cacao and coconuts. In the mouth it is round with a pure attack and good balance finishing with raspberry and cherry flavors and well-integrated sweet tannins." -Winery

"The grapes are sourced from outstanding vineyards in several sub-appellations in Napa Valley including Howell Mountain, Oakville, St. Helena, and Yountville. The lots are blended to produce a wine which enhances a wide variety of foods including grilled steaks, salmon, loin pork roasts or chops, all incarnations of lamb, hamburgers, pasta and grilled or roast chicken." -Winery

WINEMAKER:
"I spent much of my youth in Bordeaux, France, earning my geology degree from the University of Bordeaux. On a whim, I took a wine course in my final year of study - a decision that changed my life. My journey started at Chateau Haut Brion (where my passion for cabernet-based blends and sauvignon blanc began) and I completed a masters program in Agronomy and Enology under the direction of Professor Sequin, the renowned terroir specialist. I was fascinated by the relationship between soil and wine quality, a fascination which continues today."

"Yearning to know more, I set out for Napa Valley (Dominus Estate), Western Australia (Chittering Estate), Chianti in Italy (Badia O Coltibuono) and Bordeaux (Chateau Petrus) where I divided my time between soil study and winemaking. However, the great diversity of terroirs I found in Napa Valley, and its potential for extraordinary wines, was a revelation to me. So, with the knowledge I've gained around the world, I've devoted the past 15 years to winemaking here in Napa Valley – both as a consultant to the most highly regarded estate wineries, and as co-proprietor of Melka Wines..." -Philippe Melka on Melka Wines Site

2004 CHATEAU SANSONNET:
"We just can't get enough wine from this fabulous house! The level of quality for this house keeps getting raised every vintage. This shows fantastic earthy undertones of chalk, mineral and a little bit of leather, along with vibrant plum, blueberry, black cherry, blackberry, creme de mure and white flowers. This beauty will age for 15+ years, and for the price, is an absolute steal!" -91 points Gary Vaynerchuk

WINEMAKER:
Chateau Sansonnet uses Stephane Derenoncourt as their consulting winemaker, a person who is in high demand in Bordeaux and as works at these estates: La Mondotte, Pavie-Macquin, Smith Haut Lafitte, Canon La Gaffeliere, etc. Derenoncourt's hard work is appreciated worldwide, as he has recently started consulting for Rubicon in California, the top flight wine from Francis Ford Coppola's Estate. In 2004, Jancis Robinson wrote a glowing piece on Derenoncourt and his work in Bordeaux.

2004 REILLYS DRY LANDS SHIRAZ:
"The 2004 Dry Land Shiraz was produced from lower yields and spent 2 years in French oak, 50% new. The bouquet exhibits pain grille, blueberry, blackberry, licorice, and a hint of eucalyptus. Full-bodied, the wine has a velvety texture, layers of sweet, spicy dark fruit flavors, moderate tannin and a long finish. Allow 2-3 years in the cellar for further evolution and drink it through 2020." -91 Points- Jay Miller- Wine Advocate

"Supple and distinctive for the earthy, roasted game character that runs through the ripe cherry and toast flavors, playing deftly against fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. Best from 2009 through 2016. 600 cases made" -90 Points Wine Spectator
