"Pérez makes wine at Clos Martinet, which her father founded in 1992, at Cims de Porrera, in conjunction with a local cooperative, and with Los Ocho, a group of eight young friends. She also produces Venus and Eneas, muscular red blends from the Montsant region where Laurona is based. Venus' debut vintage was a stunning 1999, quickly guaranteeing the new Denominacion de Origen 'Montsant' a serious place in the Spanish wine scene in 2001."
"The vines are 10-70 years old and the vineyards are schist, clay & calcareous, with south-south east exposure. The wine is harvested around mid September. All of the vineyard sites are farmed organically and located within a 5km radio of the southern Montsant D.O, but with subtle differences in climatic influences and soils." -Winery
"Following carefully hand selection, fermentation occurs in open 500 L barrels at 29-32ºC, wood vats and concrete tanks. The maceration lasts for about 32 days.
