91 Pts Antonio Galloni - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The estate's top bottling the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino 123 is made in a similarly large-scaled, super-ripe style. It presents generous amounts of sweet fruit, chocolate and toasted oak sensations with outstanding concentration and length on the palate. Though not especially typical of Sangiovese it offers lovely overall balance as well as harmony with a lingering note of sweetness on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019." -91 points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate

WINERY
"Solaria is an artisan winery located on a natural plateau on the southeast side of Montalcino run by the extremely passionate and driven Patrizia Cencioni. Patrizia Cencioni does not spend her time behind a desk; instead she sits enthusiastically behind the wheel of her tractor, painstakingly tends to her vines by hand and takes on wholeheartedly the tasks of the cellar and every other step involved in the production of her wines. Inheriting the estate formerly called Cencioni e Pallari in 1989, Patrizia employed tremendous entrepreneurial skill to create Solaria. Producing just four wines - Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, the single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino 123 and the IGT Solarianne - Patrizia focuses all her attention on quality. The resulting wines speak for themselves and for this special place." -Importer

VINEYARDS
"The vineyards date back to 1989. This was also the year in which the farm, formerly called Cencioni e Pallari, was established as a business. A major step forward was made when the company created Solaria. This move was made possible also thanks to the considerable experience gained by the family and to the entrepreneurial skill of the owner, Patrizia Cencioni, who has added a refined touch of femininity to the business."

"The Solaria vineyards are well sheltered from thecold winds of the east (from the Monte Amiata) and of the north (from the Montalcino hill). This unique microclimate allows the Sangiovese Grosso grapes – the so-called Montalcino Brunello grapes – to reach perfect ripeness, helped by man’s loving care and dedication." -Winery

WINE
"Harvest starts from late September to early October. The wine is fermented for 3 weeks in temperature controlled stainless steel. The wine is aged for 36 months in large Slovenian oak casks and 6 months in the bottle. The Brunello is a deep ruby red color. It is silky and ripe with aromas of plums, blackberries and light vanilla with fresh acidity and balance and a long, elegant finish." -Importer
