92 Pts Wine Spectator

"Aromas of plums and hints of meat with berries. Full-bodied, with soft, round tannins and a long, long finish. Slightly one-dimensional, but clearly outstanding. Always a great value. Well made. Best after 2007. 1,500 cases made." -92 points Wine Spectator

"The vineyards are located in Serralunga d'Alba and are composed of compacted chalk and shale. The elevation is 310-345 meters above sea level and has south-southwest exposure. The harvest is conducted in mid-late October. This wine spends 13-18 days stainless steel during fermentation and is aged for 24 months in "botte" and 12-18 months in bottle." -Importer

"The color is garnet red with variable intensity depending on the vintage. The grapes come from different subzones in Serralunga and this gives them a broad and variable spectrum of perfumes, ranging from tempting spicy notes to those of a sweeter, floral and fruity nature. On the palate, there is a varying of sensations , with a full-bodied, classic, and well structured wine which ages well and perfectly represents the character of our land. It is best to decant and serve it at temperatures between 18-20 degrees Celsius. It achieves its best expression when served with red meats, particularly game, and with dishes dressed with truffle. It is also excellent with fresh egg pasta and meat sauce, and with risotto, as well as medium-mature cow's milk and goat's milk cheeses." -Winery

This wine also received a median of 90 points on Cellar Tracker. See the notes here: http://www.cellartracker.com//wine.asp?iWine=642093
