"This has serious depth, from the initial cherry, floral and spice aromas to the intense saturation of flavors on the palate. But it's elegant, with a lacy, almost delicate finish. Compelling. Best from 2013 through 2025. 220 cases made." -Wine Spectator
"This 13th generation grape-grower is known throughout Burgundy as one of the most dedicated and talented in the Côte d’Or. His cellars and vineyards are immaculate, with his attention to detail, and his perfectionist personality, culminating in his beautiful, world-class wines. Mssr. Parent’s wines are highly extracted, with explosive Pinot Noir fruit, showing complexity and elegance that few others achieve. Bottled with their distinctive black truffle label, these wines are a testimony to the wine maker’s art. Domaine François Parent enjoys many accolades from some of the most prestigious wine publications in the world." -Importer
"Cold maceration for 4-5 days with a pumping over twice daily, with the temperature reaching no higher than 34 degrees Celsius. The must is taken out of the vat 4-5 days after the alcoholic fermentation is finished. Pumping over is done twice daily until the sugar have been reduced by half. Then cap management follows and the must is punched down twice daily. Finally the wine is pressed by a pneumatic press. Aging is done in 50% a mix of new oak barrels (Berthomieu and Rousseau)." -Winery; translated by KM

Discussion On Tonight’s Wine

Hi D-Rod, I’m glad to hear you had a better experience.
Hey Christa, I’ve had two so far, and I definitely haven’t had the issues mentioned in that link. There was no perceptible bottle variation between the two I’ve opened, and the whole reason I liked it so much was the explosive nose. The only issue I can certainly agree with is the excessive alcohol. At 15.5, you can definitely feel it and it’s a little off-putting at first open. But it fades a little with some air and on the second and third nights. I’m happy to re-buy at 26 bones. Definitely hits the spot for me, but everyone’s palate is different so I respect that as well.
Hello D-Rod — not to bust your bubble, but there may be a problem with the Kolbenhof. I opened one bottle, which was definitely off. See the other comments at http://www.wineberserkers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12707&p=169001
I also emailed the vintner, who emailed back to say that it was most likely 1) a reaction to the cork or 2) a poor storage issue. So I guess buyer beware.
For whatever reason cinderellawine is not very conducive to white wine drinkers … which is a pity. We all know how fast the Humbrecht Riesling sold out!
Edward Salonia: Many thanks.
I know, i should have trade with her for the job i done with a bottle of wine..that would mean my parts cost would have been $75.. damn i miss the chance..but has anyone try the Catena Zapata Nicolás.. it is on sale right now for $77 i think..
dk22: Starting at 1pm, each for 2 hours (1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm) there will be a new deal… In addition to the normal deal at 9pm.
What’s the story with the CW mini-marathon today? News to me.
D-Rod,
I bought some of the 2006 J. Hofstatter Gewurztraminer Kolbenhof back when it was 20 bones and wish I had bought more then myself. The nose on that stuff is out of this world. Unfortunately I have placed 17 orders here over a very short period of time so unless something to hard to pass up comes my way I’m just lurking.
Looks like WL gave me a second crack at the J Hofstatter Kolbenhoff Gewurtztraminer. On at 26 bones through the BF sale right now, in for 3 of that. 20 bones on CW when I first got it, but I don’t mind spending a little extra since I liked it so much. In terms of other CW offers, they’ve also put the Cellar del Roure Maduresa on there at 24, which I also liked, but not as good a QPR as the J Hofstatter at 26 in my opinion.
This is a nice wine, I bought it at Varmax in Port Chester NY last month for $44 a bottle. Bottle was bad, so they gave me a another. Not sure how much research the folks at WL are doing, as I am not up on the web searching wines everyday, as they should be.
Very excitied for CW’s mini marathon today. Can’t think of a better way to relax and get over yesterdays feast.
Hundred Acre on CW? Not the slightest chance. Boutique wines with high Parker scores like this one could sell multiple times the yearly production.
I don’t think we will see Hundred Acre on Cindy, not the type of wine that needs to be reduced in price, more likely sold at a premium. You have a better chance of trying it as the clients place, maybe he will give you one as a holiday gift.
I was very excited to see a 2005 Red Burg finally land on CIndy’s doorstep. I bought three…couldn’t resist.
@Jeffs: Never liked the metallic mineral finish on Pinot.
I was just at a customer house and saw few cases of Hundred Acre of 2005 and 2006 in wood box.. Came back home and check how much they are and if they are good. To my suprise they are very expensive wine. Hope i get to try it with cindy help………Has anyone try Hundred acre yet?
yeah, pretty bad!
Agree with comment 13 regarding Off the Leash. . . . . My T-day dinner wine . . . . Well worth the money
Gengstro, how ’bout some tasting notes on the Elias. Appreciate the opinions on the other wines.
3 bottles for free shipping? Bummer. :-/
Re: the Txakolina: I could see how some acid-lovers MIGHT like this, but I consider myself a big fan of acidic whites, and this is just a one-note mess. Bottle variation? Maybe. But this stuff was terrible. Has a finish of lemon water. And not especially good lemon water.
Passing tonight after last nights ball with Cindy. TDay was a partial Cinderella coming out party. Off the Leash was good juice last night but nothing fancy (worth the $10). Egia Enea was interesting and not a terrible white but I agree a somewhat disappointing ($13 was $4 – $5 high for this white). Finally, the Gran Elias Mora is a show stopper!! It is easily worth the money we paid and I wish I’d bought more. GV & crew did us right with this bottle. Glad to have 5 more in the cellar. As everyone has said, decant for 3-4 hours minimum. Happy Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to the blood bath (on my bank account) tomorrow.
Agree with the comment about the Txakolina. Wish I had passed on that. Not nearly as nectar like as most other dessert wines I have had. Almost sour in taste.
After last night’s splurge, I’ll take a pass. First choice on Pinot at the moment is 07 RRV or Sonoma Coast – Emeritus or similar.
Looks good but I am hitting the store tomorrow and also have the crazy 5x cindy so I have to pass.
2005 was an amazing year! However the 86 is terribly haunting.
Pass I will wait for Black Friday.
Not into Burgundy? You’re an animal!

CT link. No tasting notes, but average price paid of 104 for three members. They might be annoyed you guys are pricing this at 55.
Tempting! Happy Thanksgiving!
The 86 from Allen Meadows of Burghound reduces my temptation substantially. Props to WL for this level of transparency. Well, that said, I do trust WS, but I’m also not HUGE on Pinot–not enough to spend 55 bones.
Currently drinking the Txakolina. Ugh. This stuff is really unpleasant. Closed nose, on the palate just over-the-top acid for days. No real redeeming qualities. My first real disappointment from CW.
Cindy is hurting me . . . . have to pass . . . the crew is taking a trip to the Wine Lib tomorrow . . . and still waiting for the big surprise 1st week of December . . . . hope it is worth it . . .
First, how can you NOT be a Pinot fan? Second, “full of turkey” is somewhat redundant today! I think I passed full around 3 PM.
This looks great, but after what I purchased last night, I am resolving to take a couple days off. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
WOW! No comments? Everyone full of turkey?
I’m out… not a Pinot fan.
