"Wonderful aromas of crushed cherries, nutmeg and cinnamon. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a caressing, friendly finish. A cuddly red here. Best after 2005. 1,665 cases made." -Wine Spectator
"The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Pietranera is from a part of the appellation near Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Dark in color, spicy, and expansive on the nose, its palate of wild cherries, tar, and liquorice is powerful and sustained but smooth in texture and velvety on the finish as well. Drink: 2005-2016." -91 Points - Daniel Thomases - Wine Advocate
"The vineyards are in the south-east side of Montalcino. The fruit is harvested the first half of October. Grapes are picked from the bunch and softly squeezed; the maceration takes place in stainless steel vats for a
period of 25 days with repeated wine-pressings and delestages. During this phase the alcoholic fermentation is completed and controlled at a temperature of 28-30 °C."
After the fermentation method has been completed, the wine spends 24-30 months in Slavonian oak barrels of 50 hectolitres. It is then aged for another 6 months in stainless steel vats, and at least 12 months in the bottles before being put on the market, at the beginning of the fifth year after the harvest. Intense ruby-red, with a tendency to garnet-red with the ageing. On the nose, this is round, intense well-balanced, with a long finish. On the palate, this is complex, elegant, full-bodied, velvety. Red meat and game, matured cheeses and complex dishes are great pairings for this wine. Open 1-2 hours before being served." -Winery

Discussion On Tonight’s Wine

Great idea: How ’bout the 07 Termes? I just had the 06 again and it was outstanding! Thanks again for the wonderful deals.
I hear ya Dr.J
Dr. J: Us addicts’ bank accounts are depleted after a gajillion great deals. It’s going to take a lot to get a quick sell-out!
I can’t believe that a pumpkin has not appeared!!!!!
I live in TN and ya can’t ship wine into the state. What a bummer. Just found the site and hope to heck our state laws change!
OMG Cindy – you are getting to be the belle of the ball – AGAIN – let the mice wait if you are going to make your loyal kingdom these offers that can’t be refused. To heck with your ugly sisters – let them find thier own way home.
99 Brunello at $43 is a 2X WOW!
Stay out till dawn and paaaaarty on …
I’m holding out for another night or black Friday. This looks like a good drinker and price. The vintage looks solid. Age of this wine seems to be in the sweet spot now. I made some other WL and competitor purchases (sharing the holiday funds) with my $130.00. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
I love brunello.
Willpower… failing… Must have… control…
A, to hell with willpower… I’m in for two.
C’mon Cindy…bring your hot friend….you know….your 2004 sister
Montacino, Montalcino-who the ‘l’ cares? At 10 years, though, I hope it’s not over the hil.
Has anyone put together the CW support group yet???
This is getting bad! I can’t stop myself!! I’m serious!!!
I need help!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL)
Bah, happens every time. I say I’m not in, but then I go in. Ah well, at least this time it’s only in for 1. Can’t pass up something so cheap with so much age on it. Damn you Cindy!
BW, KMurph, you’re cool. It’s this CW nonsense that’s going to get me kicked out of my apartment…
Your killing me…I just can’t resist!
This one looks ready to drink.
I’m in again for 3!
This one is killing me. I’ve purchased so much wine this month I have to wait until the first for my welfare check. Looking forward to the packs!
Great deal, my addiction is complete with my 11th purchase. Thanks CW (sorry wife)!
I am still waiting for a good offer on La Clémence 2005. Or how about a good deal on Nicolas Catena Zapata 2005 ? How about some offers on the La Reserve wines that Gary blended ?
Thanks CW,you can keep the “L”,I gladly took the 3.
Wow Cindy, you have aged a bit since I last saw you. Now, I’m not saying that age is a bad thing…actually, I’m pretty into it. You know, experience and all. But at your age, it’s a bit of a crap shoot. I mean…ummm, how should I put this gently. I don’t exactly know where you’ve been if you get my drift. You could have been well taken care of, but then again…you know, you could have been anywhere. Hon, I’ve got to be honest with you…I have to ponder this a bit. And don’t get me wrong, I’m intrigued – very intrigued – and your price is right. Tell you what, I’m going to get back to you.
nice. seems like a pretty decent discount, and it’s got some age on it. I’m not in, but that’s a function of available space in my pathetically small Manhattan 1br.
It’s “Montalcino.”
No worries. It’s also spelled wrong on WL: http://winelibrary.com/wines/48434-1999+Pietranera+Brunello+Montacino+++750ML
Love BdM’s, and a ’99 for this price with these ratings… where you gonna get this but at WL? I’m in.
I ken type realy good….sorry guys!
Montacino is this little region in Chinatown in NY… it’s almost as good as Arolo or even Boredeaux
LOL – It’s being fixed now!! Sorry everyone!
A little too rich for my blood. Coming back tomorrow
Love to see some older bottles popping up here. It’s just a shame you can’t ship to my state!
@mrmurphman – maybe its a knockoff BdM…like the Rollex I bought in the city last week…
Isn’t there supposed to be an “L” in Montalcino?
Hmmm….WS says best after 2005. Anyone tasted this recently? Still drinking well? Tasting notes? A bit steep in price to jump blindly off a cliff.
I believe someone forgot the l in “Montalcino”
Tempting…Happy Thanksgiving, all.
I’m in for 3. Thanks CW.
well we know NY Pete is in, his wish is finally granted
I need a better discount here. But for those who can afford it, congrats…
