"Deep red. Highly fragrant bouquet evokes raspberry, blackberry and exotic peach, with a gentle tobacco quality adding complexity. Juicy dark berry flavors are unencumbered by tannins or rough edges, making this enjoyable already. Finishes bright and sweet, with excellent breadth and length. This producer was formerly known as Ravenswood Lane." -International Wine Cellar

"Max co-fermented Shiraz and Viognier has a raspberry, licorice and white pepper spice bouquet and a juicy black cherry / berry palate with lovely soft tannins. Contemporary, slippery and sensuous. Max, slide into it. Technical Information: Alc. 14.3%, ph 3.6, TA" -Winery

More about this producer: "John Edwards, a self professed bon viveur, developed a thirst for global business through entrepreneurial and marketing roles in the diamond tool, granite and grand prix industries. This lifestyle however came at a price. After an Adelaide, London, Johannesburg, Paris fast turnaround flight John knew something had to change!

The wine industry was in a boom cycle. John didn't have any viticultural experience but he knew someone he could trust to be his Guru. He searched for two years for land with the aspect and terroir he wanted for his vineyard. When he walked through the old farm gate on Ravenswood Lane, he realised his dream - land on which he could grow extreme quality fruit for distinguished, complex, sought after wines." - Winery

Shiraz-Viognier blends are common in Australia and follow the tradition of Northern Rhone viticulture. The co-fermentation of Viognier with Shiraz is to add more aromatics to a wine, such as peaches and/or floral notes.

    Lets see a california cab!!

  2. NY Pete

big congrats to PhilCT and his better half!

  3. D-Rod

Green Pea, I’m afraid I’m a total newbie when it comes to whites. I tried it just because the discount was right and I’d admittedly never had a Gewurztraminer before. I bought three bottles and have unfortunately consumed two so far. It pairs awesomely well with the spicy thai food I eat (probably a little too often, but I digress). The third one will be cellared for a while, but I wish I had the opportunity to buy again at 20 bones.

  4. Green Pea

D-Rod I stocked up on that stuff. It’s still early to be opening it. Give it a few years and it will come to life. I know it’s hard to wait as I did open one but, hold off on the bulk of it. You will be glad you did.

PhilCT: Congrats my friend. I have three boys myself and could not imagine life without them. Cherish everyday because they do grow fast.

  5. Jonathan Alfaro

What are you guys in the mood for tonight?

  6. D-Rod

Hey Cindy, that 2006 J. Hofstatter Gewurztraminer Kolbenhof was a mighty good deal at 20 bones. Any chance of a repeat? :-D

  7. Philct

Poo I love Bordeaux and will keep my eyes open.. I’m marty6001 on the forums so if you see me there let me know who is who !! See you in an hour!!!

  8. Ivan

i second the 09 bdx vintage. something expensive so your child will love it 21 yrs from now.

    Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. D-Rod

Congrats PhilCT. There’s a lot of good things being said about the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. It’ll be worthwhile checking that out once all is said and done.

  10. PhilCT

Thanks for the kind words.. hmm didnt even think about some 09 to lay down.. Anyone have any ideas throw them my way.. would love something really really special!!!

  11. JohnFasc

    PhilCT – Congratulations!
I concur with flyerfan..way to keep your head in the game and the eye on the prize.

Phil, only a couple of years to think about buying the perfect 2009 vintage for your baby’s birth wine to put away. Have anything in mind yet?

GV-what did you lay down for your baby to last 21 years? -i’m interested to find out.

  12. flyerfan

@ PhilCT: Congratulations to you and your wife on your new addition, Phil…….Should’ve taken advantage of the drugs and epidural, and gotten permission to purchase a case of something this week, just to celebrate!! Perhaps a WL direct purchase of some bubbly!!!!……Congrats, again!

  13. JohnFasc

Hey WL or anyone else in the know..
What’s the story behind these 3-packs to come!?

  14. john

    sob…

    The answer for wine storage–

Find a breezaire unit on craigs list (I paid$100) and some hi density foam insulation. Now I have a 400 bottle cellat that I only paid about $300.00 for, including an exterior insulated door. Problem is, its almost full!!!

  16. PhilCT

My son was born overnight last night after a loooooong 2 hours of labor lol thats right only 2 hours!!! No cindy for the next few days for me, hopefully no collector wines come up that I miss out on!!! Hope to be back buying with you all soon!!!

    Phil

  17. george

how about some souvignon blanc.. i got 3 bottle of the French made i got from WL.. my wife like that and we try the cloudy bay 2008 last night at a resturant..$65 bottle.. Damn mark ups.. My wife like that bottle too.. say taste almost the same… So please have some SB for sale..

    John,
The Prisoner would be great, but you won’t see it on Cinderella any time soon. It sells out year after year, they can’t make enough of the stuff to keep up with demand, so they have no reason to mark it down. I also don’t think they have New Jersey distribution.
Who knows, Gary could prove me wrong.

  19. adam

I’ll tell ya, I love my Avanti 40 bottle dual zone. Provantage has it for under $300 and the thing is thermoelectric so you can’t even hear it. I only store reds, so i really didn’t need a dual zone, but it keeps it at 54-55 degrees consistently. i want a second one, but unless it comes with a new wife, I won’t be getting it. lol

  20. D-Rod

haha, Adam, I feel you. My 28-bottle fridge is nowhere near sufficient to my growing storage needs. I told my girlfriend I plan on getting a much bigger wine fridge once we move to a bigger place (whenever that’s going to happen), and she had a pretty “interesting” reaction. She’s not going to like it when the 9 bottles I have coming in this week show up at the door… lol

  21. adam

Ok, my wife has called me out on my wine ‘issues’… so, unless i get some of my target offerings, i’ll have to sit on the sidelines for a bit. Unfortunate, perhaps, but she simply won’t let me buy another wine refrig…. there’s always professional wine storage, however… lmao.

  22. John

Hey Cindy, how about a 2007 Orin Swift The Prisoner or Shingleback Shiraz?

  23. PhilCT

Anyone else hear that??? Its the sound of my bank account sighing… Or maybe its my wife sighing, they sound the same after this week of my cindy buying!!

  24. winecrazy

I always miss all the deals….!!!!!

  25. Ivan

Come on NYPete get 3 more… running out almost pumpkin time.

  26. NY Pete

no pumpkin yet … you guys must have a small boat load of this vino … :)

  27. Elcaro

Anyone else having problems accessing wine-searcher.com today?

  28. Ivan

Guys (and any gals that may be out there lurking)… the ’07 vintage of Southern CdR is oneof the best in a long time… let’s have Cindy help us stock up on those… we will reap the rewards for years to come!!

That being said, I won’t thow out of bed a good one from Spain or Portugal either.

  29. Wineracquet

I’d like to second Elcaro’s wish for the ’05 San Vincente rioja or similar tempranillo! Spain rocks! A higher end Portuguese red would also float my boat!

  30. BK

    Cheaper than $9.88?
