93 Pts Antonio Galloni - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Graphite, road tar, licorice, violets, sweet spices and ripe dark cherries are just some of the nuances that flow from Meroi’s 2006 Ros di Buri. This juicy, full bodied Merlot shows terrific vibrancy and freshness, along with superb delineation in its aromas and flavors. The wine puts on considerable weight and richness in the glass. This is a great example of the heights reds are capable of achieving in Friuli. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020. Once again I was impressed with the wines of Meroi, the reds in particular. The wines show the distinct imprimatur of Paolo Meroi’s friend Enzo Pontoni of Miani who does some consulting work here." -93 points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate

"The vineyards are between 10 to 40 years old. Harvest is collected in boxes, fermentation is done in steel tanks, with maceration of about 2 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in barrels and the wine is kept in the barrels for 15 months in 50% new French oak. The cultivation techniques are completely organic, without any use of pesticides and herbicides. Ruby color, berry fruit and spicy notes. Creamy and full in the mouth stretches long and persistently, with sweet tannin typical of Buttrio." -Winery

"The Meroi family owns 35 hectares of fine, old vineyards in the Colli Orientali del Friuli D.O.C., which has been compared to the Cote de Beaune of Burgundy for its ability to produce world class white wines. The output of this estate is - understandably - extremely limited, with only a handful of cases making it into the New York market. All Meroi wines show a combination of complexity and structure, and are known to have remarkable aging potential." -Importer
