Please note, orders are processed on a first come basis. If you leave the wine in your cart for even a few minutes it might have already sold out as our stock quantity is removed when you submit the order in final, not when you add it to your cart!

You will get two emails from us with regards to your order. The first email from us only confirms that we received your order. The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. Due to the high volume of sales there are times when the wine has sold out, but our system is still updating and shows it as available. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

Description:

This old vine Zin reveals itself in the glass with an intense violet color. On the nose it has black raspberry, blueberry, brown sugar, and some floral notes. The palate delivers dark fruit and again a touch of raspberry. Baking spice is present but not over the top and the alcohol is well concealed.

VINEYARD:
"The Moratto Vineyard is an exciting vineyard designate wine offered by Gamba Vineyards and Winery. Bob and Tim Moratto oversee management of the vineyard and have honored Gamba with the availability of their stunning Zinfandel fruit . This stellar vineyard source was the first vineyard designate wine offered outside of the Gamba Estate Zinfandel offered under the Gamba label."

"This beautiful old vineyard parcel is located near old town Windsor in Sonoma County. The Moratto Vineyard is planted to Zinfandel and Petite Sirah on an Eastern facing slope in the Russian River ValleyAppellation. The vineyard was originally planted in 1920, and its handsomely gnarled vines have aged well."

"The vineyard produces low yields, with very high quality berries of outstanding flavor. The Moratto Vineyard shares a similar microclimate with the Gamba Estate Vineyard, allowing slow ripening during the growing season. Sugars reach optimum levels by harvest time, typically in late September to early October. Agostino Gamba consults with the vineyard manager during the growing season, and harvest is carefully executed by Gamba. The grapes are double hand sorted, once in the vineyard, and once again at the winery to allow only evenly ripened, consistently dark berry clusters to remain on the winery sorting table prior to crush. The harvest tonnages are small, ensuring maximum intensity in berry flavor."

ESTATE:
"Gamba Vineyards is a small, family owned vineyard and winery business in Sonoma County, California. The over century old 27.5 acre Gamba Estate Vineyard parcel rests on th Eastern edge of the beautiful Russian River Valley Appellation, on gently rolling benchland above the valley floor. Planted to Zinfandel in 1900, the Gamba Estate Vineyard consists primarily of Old Vine Zinfandel, as well as small separate blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon. With ideal Southern exposure, the vineyard is bathed in sunlight during the growing season. On average the yield is small, in part due to nature, but also by design-approximately one half ton, and occasionally up to one ton per acre is harvested, depending on the vigor of vineyard block and severity of pruning."

"The vines are organically dry farmed. The dry farming method relies solely on yearly rainwater to irrigate the vineyard. This method will generally decrease tonnage, however, in exchange, the remaining fruit clusters achieve a wonderful concentration of flavors. The vineyard has been farmed since its beginnings using the dry farming method, as well as other labor intensive, traditional methods. Each vine is cleared of ground cover at its base by hand. The Gamba's still own the original horse plows for discing rows, although now they employ the use of modern equipment to turn the soil. The vines are pruned, thinned and harvested by hand. Italian prune trees were planted years ago, and more recently lavender, to attract predatory insects to drive out unwanted pests. Roses were planted to give an early indication of powdery mildew that may develop early in the season. The Gamba family has used organic methods to counter any adversity faced in the vineyard, as it has been done since 1900. To this day, they do not use herbicides or any pesticides in the production of their winegrapes."
