Description:

2007 VINA COBOS BRAMARE MALBEC MARCHIORI VINEYARD:
"A big, ripe, powerful rendition of Malbec, with boysenberry, linzer torte and loganberry fruit pumping along mocha-infused toast. The lush finish is loaded with velvety tannins that let the fruit drip on. An impressive, hedonistic style. Drink now through 2012. 1,330 cases made. -JM" 93 points Wine Spectator

"Good deep, bright ruby. Dark berries, sassafras and chocolate on the nose. Sweet, dense and lush without any impression of heaviness; conveys an almost porty ripeness but notes of cherry pit and licorice are enlivened by firm acidity. Finishes with sweet, seamless tannins and excellent length and lift." 92 points - Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar

WINE:
"The vines are over 50 years old in the Marchiori vineyard. The grapes are fermented with selected and native yeasts in 8-ton closed-top stainless steel tanks. There is a 4 to 5-day cold soak, followed by 25 days total maceration. Native malolactic fermentation in barrel occurs for 3 months to completion. The wine is aged for 18 months in Taransaud, Demptos and Seguin Moreau French and American oak barrels of which 68% is new."

"Deep, black/magenta color accompanies intense aromas of chambord, sweet tobacco, violets and earth. The firmly structured, tightly woven palate intrigues with hints of ripe black blackberry, plum and bergamot enhanced by subtle overtones of vanillin. Balanced acidity accompanies prominent, fine-grained tannins over a lasting finish." -Winery

WINEMAKING TEAM:
"Paul Hobbs visited Argentina in 1989 and he became immediately interested in both the terroir and Argentine culture, noticing the unique potential for Malbec and other varietals in the region. In 1997 Andrea and Luis met Paul in California and they decided to found Viña Cobos. Since then, Paul and his Argentine partners have grown their portfolio of ultra-premium wines to include Cobos Nico, Bramare, and Felino which continue to receive even greater accolades."-Winery

2006 ANTUCURA GRAN VIN:
"Antucura's 2006 Gran Vin is composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, and 5% Merlot (in consultation with Michel Rolland) and was aged in new French oak for 16 months. Medium purple in color, it offers up an alluring perfume of wood smoke, cherry blossom, incense, Asian spices, cassis, boysenberry, and black cherry. Concentrated on the palate with layered fruit and potential complexity, this impeccably balanced effort will unfold for several more years and provide pleasure through 2020." 92 points - Jay Miller - Wine Advocate

"45-day cuvaison followed by 18 months of aging in new French oak; also a blend of cabernet, merlot and malbec, but with a higher percentage of cabernet than the Calcura. Bright ruby-red. Currant and dark chocolate aromas on the almost syrupy-ripe nose, with a full load of exotic coconut-and-caramel oak and exotic spices from a high percentage of Taransaud barrels. Rich, velvety and full, with a captivating sweetness to the blackcurrant, boysenberry, chocolate and coconut flavors. In a more New World style than the Calcura, sweeter and fruitier, with more baby fat. But this packed wine has plenty of underlying backbone. Finishes with very lush, suave tannins."92 points - Stephen Tanzer - International Wine Cellar

WINE:
"The color is deep red ruby with intense violet highlights. The nose perceives jammy aromas of red mature fruits, nuts, leather and chocolate. On the palate it is very intense thanks to its mature tannins. It is well-structured, balanced with a very long and persistent finish." -Importer
