Description:

2006 Les Secrets De Cardinale:
"Bright red-ruby. Sexy red berries, black cherry, dark chocolate and tobacco on the nose, with super ripe suggestions and a minty nuance suggesting a wider range of ripeness than the estate's flagship wine. Then lush and sweet in the mouth, with an almost liqueur-like quality to the dark raspberry and chocolate flavors. Finishes with good energy and a firm tannic spine." -90 Points- Stephen Tanzer- International Wine Cellar

WINE:
"The vines of Secret de Cardinale are located on a 1.20 hectares plot bordering Chateau Fleur Cardinale. This wine is made in small quantities using the same growing and wine making techniques as those at Chateau Fleur Cardinale. The vines are 35 years old, on average, and they grow in the clay-limestone soil of the Saint-Emilion appellation hillside. There is just one variety of vines for they are 100% Merlot, which is quite rare in Bordeaux." -Winery

WINERY:
"The estate was bought in 2001 by Florence and Dominique Decoster, and it has benefited form major investments which have made Château Fleur Cardinale one of the top names of the appellation. It is located to the east of the village of Saint-Emilion, on one of the high points of the appellation and it extends over 20 hectares. The vineyard is planted in a clay-limestone soil in the middle of the plateau on a pleasant late producing terroir. The vines are mainly Merlot (70%) and then a balance of 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. With it's great value for money, and showing great consistancy in it's quality, Chateau Fleur Cardinale was promoted to 'Saint-Emilion Grand cru classe' in 2006." -Winery

2006 Chateau Cantemerle:
"As I indicated last year, quality has improved dramatically at this estate, and the 2006 is a quintessentially elegant Bordeaux displaying a dark ruby/purple color, a lovely bouquet of forest floor, sweet cherries, cranberries, and black currants, medium body, a textured, sweet, tannic mouthfeel, and a long finish. Everything is beautifully pure as well as perfectly balanced in this outstanding effort. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. Excellent value."-90 points Robert Parker

"This wine is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc."

"This unique soil and microclimat are reflected in the wine's personality. Cantemerle has a brilliant colour, a powerful bouquet, and a soft, lively flavour. It is rare to find such refined fruitiness. This great wine can be enjoyed young, when it is charming, fruity, and marked by a vanilla taste which comes from well-integrated oak."

This makes Cantemerle an ideal choice for the modern wine drinker who likes fresh tannins. However, it can also age extremely well. Fine, old vintages have impeccable class, with incomparable flavours of sheer elegance. Cantemerle therefore belongs to that rare category of the world's wines which can not only age, but also improve over several decades. -Winery
