93+ Pts Jeb Dunnuck - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Made from 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2011 Creative Impulse DuBrul Vineyard is a smoking effort that has some upside. Classically styled, with full-bodied richness and a firm, focused, structured profile, it gives off beautiful plum and black cherry fruit, coffee bean, cedar and hints of chocolate on the nose. It, too, will require short-term cellaring and have 15 years or more of overall evolution.

Based out of Walla Walla and created in 2007, Rasa is run by brothers Pinto and Billo Naravane. They fashion classic, focused and structured efforts that benefit from bottle age. All of the 2011s I tasted had a reserved, tight profile, so short-term cellaring is advised here. I thought the 2012s were gorgeous and up with the best wines I’ve tasted from this estate."

92+ Pts Stephen Tanzer - Vinous Media

"Bright dark red. Aromas of licorice, rocky minerality and bloody rare steak show lovely subtlety and lift. Sweet, seamless and deep but with plenty of underlying mineral structure to support the flavors of bing cherry, pepper and spices. Quite deep, and oakier than the Plus One cabernet. Finishes very long, with building ripe tannins and a repeating cherry note. A bit less suave on the finish than the Plus One but boasts terrific depth. Interestingly, this wine is more backward in the early going than the 2010 version was, in spite of the fact that the newer bottling contains more Merlot."

Description:

Rasa Vineyard is the definition of stirring things up.

Owners Billo and Pinto Naravane were passionate about wine even before they got into the business. They would taste wine that are considered some of the best in the region and compare them to other wines in the world and they thought to themselves that Washington could be doing better. They made it a mission to make terroir and vineyard specific wines that compete with some of the best in the world, while showing off what Washington is all about.

The Creative Impulse is a Red Blend made from all Dubrul Vineyard Fruit. This is one of the best vineyards for making very full bodied structured wines. These wines are meant to last years in the bottle. There are only 240 cases made of this extremely rare wine.

"We have always been strong analytical thinkers and because of that we were pigeon-holed as “left-brain” types. As we got older, we realized that we have a creative side. We didn’t want to be pigeon-holed as “left-brain” any longer. As we developed a passion for wine, we also developed a passion for the creative process. At the intersection of these passions, a creative impulse was bred. Rasa Vineyards was born out of this creative impulse." - Winery
