92-94 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous

A much more powerful, voluptuous expression of Syrah emerges from the 2012 Syrah Estate, where intense, dark Paso fruit is center stage. The 2012 Syrah Estate is gorgeous, ample and resonant in the glass. Most importantly, it is completely different from the Dirt Worshipper, with more body but less emphasis on aromatics. The 2012 was done mostly with destemmed fruit and about 15% whole clusters.

Description:

"You notice its aromas just as you are about to leave: sandalwood, lavender, wild berries and…is that a hint of hoisin? You decide to stay. After striking up conversation, you learn of its travels, education and adventures. Yet behind all of its worldliness there’s a vulnerability to this wine. You suddenly realize that perhaps it’s most happy right here with you. Fermented 20% whole cluster. Aged for 22 months in 225L barriques, 80% used and 20% new French oak. 800 cases produced." - Winery
