93-95 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous

"The 2012 Corton Rognet dazzles from start to finish. Tar, licorice, black cherries, smoke and spices burst from the glass as this exuberant, powerful Burgundy shows off its personality. The 2012 is rich, intense and massively structured, but all the elements are in the right place. Readers lucky enough to find the 2012 should plan on giving the wine a few years in the cellar. Today, the Corton Rognet is striking. In 2012 there are just 4 barrels instead of the typical 7 or so."

94 Pts Wine Spectator

"A gorgeous nose of black cherry, blackberry, violet and spice heralds this suave, tangy red. Concentrated and vibrant, this pulses through the lingering aftertaste, with dark fruit, mineral and toasty, spicy accents. Best from 2018 through 2032. 100 cases made. -BS"

92 Pts Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Now in bottle, the 2012 Corton Rognet Grand Cru is fulfilling its promise in barrel. The aromatics are consistent with its performance before bottling, the palate achieving perhaps an even higher degree of finesse and composure as that nascent chewiness appears to have dissipated. This delicious Corton Rognet should give much pleasure over the next ten years or more. Drink now-2025+. "

92 Pts Allen Meadows - Burghound

"A somber nose reluctantly offers up highly complex aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur, earth, spice and a distinct animale element, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is good power and plenty of verve to the moderately big-bodied flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration on the muscular finish that displays a hint of mocha. The mouth feel is more refined than usual as the tannins are fine-grained and overall, this is a big and firm but well-balanced effort."

Description:

"Dark color. Exploding aromas of black currant and cherries when young, turn to truffle and leather when aged. Solid structure with firm and elegant tannins and a lively acidity.

Hand harvested in small crates. The aging potential of this wine is 15 to 20 years in great vintages.

If you prefer young wines, keep 2 to 3 years for intense red fruits and after 6 to 8 years if you prefer melted tannins and greater complexity of aromas." - Importer
