"'Siir' means 'father' in the old local Lucanian dialect of Basilicata. 100% Aglianico sourced from the younger vineyards, this is the entry level Aglianico from San Martino. Only part of the wine spends 12 months in oak and this does much to soften the tannins. The hot climate and rich ancient volcanic and clay soils of the area produce a rich, deeply-colored wine with firm tannins, smooth and rich texture with aromas and flavors of dark fruit and blackberries, dark chocolate, minerals and leather.
