We were able to bring in the last few cases of the 2009 vintage before our distributor moves over to 2010! After these sell through today ... there will be nothing left from this vintage.

Excellent price for a solid Bordeaux. Full-bodied, good acidity for roast beef and some attractive black fruit and smoky aromas and flavours. Decant 2 hours and be happy. - Natalie MacLean - 90 Points
"It was the description of the ideal conditions lending themselves to the growing of the Cabernet Sauvignon in the limestone soils of the area of Civrac (very thin topsoil with the omnipresence of outcropping limestone bedrock) that resulted in the creation of Château La Grange de Bessan! Planting a vineyard in such conditions was a back-breaking, costly and lengthy process, requiring considerable technical means, suitable root-stock and lots of patience. The vines planted now benefit form a perfect water supply, just enough, never too much never too little, as if out of a textbook, producing rich, concentrated grapes." -Winery

The Médoc stretches north west from the city of Bordeaux along the left bank of the Gironde estuary, a virtually monocultural strip of flat, unremarkable land sandwiched between the palus, or coastal marshes, and the pine forests which extend for miles south into the Landes. The vineyard strip is about 5 to 12 km/3 to 8 miles wide, and runs northwards, with various intermissions for scrub, pasture, polder, and river bank, more than 70 km/50 miles from the northern suburbs of Bordeaux to the marshes of the lower, more northerly part of the Médoc, the so-called Bas-Médoc (see map under Bordeaux). Wines produced in the Bas-Médoc use the Médoc appellation, while those on the higher ground in the south eastern section are entitled to the Haut-Médoc appellation, although many of them qualify for the smarter individual village, or communal, appellations.
