The 2005 Chateau La Clemence is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from Pomerol in France and the ABV is 14%. The 2001 Delectus Stanton Merlot is 100% Merlot from Napa Valley in California and the ABV 15.2%.

"Proprietor Christian Dauriac's tiny 7.5 acre Pomerol estate is planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. These wines have had a tendency to be overwhelmingly extracted and high in tannin as well as oak, but the outstanding 2005, while clearly from the modern school of winemaking, possesses a well-integrated wood component. Dense purple-colored, it offers scents of espresso, chocolate, blackberries, and kirsch along with a hint of caramelized fruit, medium to full body, abundant amounts of sweet tannin, and a muscular, concentrated, powerful finish. "From vines to wine the Chateau La Clemence is the new birth place of a small 2.8 hectares vineyard consisting of six plots, long time kept in the shadows of Pomerol. In 1996, Christian Dauriac decided to venture onto this mythical plateau following Michel Rolland's expert advice, who detected the potential of this vineyard. A little faith was necessary in order to appreciate this property which had been untouched for years. Christian Dauriac called his property 'La Clemence' to represent the voluptuousness and femininity of wine."
"At La Clemence the vines are on average 50 years old with a density of 6000 vines per hectare, with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Each plot is separately vinified in six small thermo regulated wooden tanks of 35 hectoliters. From the air conditioned cellar with a unique round architecture with plate glass windows all around, operational since 2001, it is possible to see the cellar dedicated to malolactic fermentation and the one dedicated to ageing in new oak barrels."-Winery
