Description:

2007 Pietranera Brunello Di Montalcino:
"Opens with dark concentration and ripe berry fruit with layers of plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, cherry liqueur, cola and underbrush. It offers a wonderful 360-degree portrait of Sangiovese Grosso. Tight structure, integration and loads of fruity intensity. Drink after 2018. -M.L" 94 points Wine Enthusiast

"A wine that is slightly jammy, but shows flower and light herb character too. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Better in 2014." 90 points - James Suckling - JamesSuckling.com

VITICULTURE & VINIFICATION:
"The vineyards are in the south-east side of Montalcino. The fruit is harvested the first half of October. Grapes are picked from the bunch and softly squeezed; the maceration takes place in stainless steel vats for a period of 25 days with repeated wine-pressings and delestages. During this phase the alcoholic fermentation is completed and controlled at a temperature of 28-30 degrees Celsius."

"After the fermentation method has been completed, the wine spends 24-30 months in Slavonian oak barrels of 50 hectolitres. It is then aged for another 6 months in stainless steel vats, and at least 12 months in the bottles before being put on the market, at the beginning of the fifth year after the harvest. Intense ruby-red, with a tendency to garnet-red with the ageing. On the nose, this is round, intense well-balanced, with a long finish. On the palate, this is complex, elegant, full-bodied, velvety. Red meat and game, matured cheeses and complex dishes are great pairings for this wine. Open 1-2 hours before being served." -Winery

This was also rated 88 points by the Wine Advocate.

2007 Castello di Bossi Corbaia:
"The 2007 Corbaia is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new French oak. It is once again a very serious wine. The floral, expressive aromatics of Sangiovese are backed up by the tannic heft and sheer richness of the Cabernet. This is a big, yet sensual, wine that will require considerable patience for the tannins to soften, despite the early appeal of the vintage elsewhere. The sheer purity and depth of the fruit are breathtaking in this stunning Tuscan red. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027." 95 Points - Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate

"Corbaia is a super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon that opens with intensity and bright fruit flavors. It boasts a soft, silky feel with a firm tannic bite followed by cassis, earth and wild mushroom. Very nice." 93 Points Wine Enthusiast

"A very fruity and structured red, showing currant and berry notes, with hints of new wood. Needs to come together in the bottle, but shows excellent tannin backbone and fruit. Best after 2011. 1,000 cases made. -JS" 90 Points Wine Spectator

VITICULTURE AND VINIFICATION:
"Today the Castello di Bossi covers 650 hectares , on which 124 are under vine. By utilising only the most enlightened viticultural practices, we harvest, vintage after vintage, prize fruit that represents to the fullest extent the qualities of terroir and of their individual grape varieties."

"Those 124 hectares planted to Sangiovese, the main variety of Chianti Classico and of Tuscany in general; and to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which were planted at Bossi some forty years ago, probably among the first in Chianti Classico."

"Their roots go deep into soils that are predominantly tuffs, yellow clays, silt-sand, and crushed rock, at an altitude of about 350 meters . These conditions, plus a unique microclimate and optimal exposition to the sun, yield grapes that are perfectly ripe, healthy, and of great character."

"The grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks fitted with the most advanced processing systems. The wine then matures and rests in the barrel cellar, with over 1,000 light-toast French oak barrels. The state-of-the-art bottling line is temperature-controlled as well, and feeds directly into the bottle-storage facility. It, too, is fully insulated and fully cold- and heat-regulatable. Absolutely fundamental for keeping our standards of quality high is our ambitious programme of replanting, carried out on a cyclic basis and due for completion in 3-4 years." -Winery
