91 Pts Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Personally, I would opt for the 2007 Libertad Vineyards Meritage instead. A blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot raised for 24 months in new French oak, it has a well-defined bouquet with lifted red berry fruit, cedar and sandalwood that handle the oak with some style. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe dark cherries, dark plum and soy. It builds convincingly in the mouth and exerts a gentle grip on the finish. This is a lovely wine. Drink now-2020." (10/12)

91 Pts Wine & Spirits

"Monumental in its concentration and size, this is a fiesta of sweet liqueur-like fruit ripeness, cinnamon and clove. It's a powerful wine composed of cabernet franc (50 percent), cabernet sauvignon (30 percent), merlot and petit verdot." (02/13)

Description:

Wine:
"The color is a red profound ruby color, attractive, and very clean as a result of a natural clarification process that guarantees the conservation of all the wines organic features. On the nose the aromas provided by these noble vines we can find black pepper from the Cabernet Sauvignon, red fruits from Merlot and the particular mint scent provided by the Cabernet Franc. All these, combined together with the special touch of the Petit Verdot and the complexity provided by the French oak. It is very pleasant in the mouth, velvety, but yet with great body and sweet tannins. Ripen black fruits, mint, toast and chocolate complex are the aromas that stand out. This is a result of combining mature grapes, adequate fermentation and French oak, plus conservation in bottles, away form the light and in perfect temperature conditions."

"From the most antique vineyards of Finca Libertad and after evolving for 18 months in new French oak barrels 3.000 bottles of this greatly balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot are born. The winemaker is Federico Benegas Lynch, with consultant Michel Rolland."

"From the Upper Mendoza River Bank, Cruz de Piedra, Maipu, Mendoza, Argentina. The age of the Vineyards: Cabernet Sauvignon -40 to 60 years old vineyards-, Cabernet Franc -100 years old vineyards-, Merlot -20 years old vineyards-, Petit Verdot -5 years old vineyards-."

"The wine spends 8 months in new French oak casks where they malolactic fermentation process will be completed, at temperatures bellow 18 degrees C. The wine begins to mature in the oak casks, which are stored in cellars where temperature are controlled." - Winery

Winery:
"It is located in the Lujan de Cuyo region, carril Ardoz (off route 60), 300 meters from its intersection with the south access to Mendoza, and at 5 kilometers from Finca Libertad. This old winery belonged to the family of Gladys Alurralde Norton, who was the mother of Federico J. Benegas Lynch."

"Agustin Alvarez, Governor of the Province of Mendoza in those years, finished the construction in 1901. It is one of the few historic relics that remain from the old Mendoza of the end of the XIXth century. It was made of adobe with a stone underground cave to stow casks and it has spacious areas to store bottles both in summer and in winter, for temperature variations are minimal." - Winery

This was also scored 89 Points by the International Wine Cellar.
